My first Project Mk5 Zetec-S RoadRally car [Pic Heavy]
Hey guys been a signed up to this forum for a few months now and thought id share my little Fiesta Project with you all the plan was to get it prepared for Road Rally and take part once car is completed.
i bought this car last October so had the car a year this month its a slow project but have been chipping away at it for the last year, so please bare with me as i have a lot to upload
This is the car the day after i picked it up, it was a mega bargin at £400 it had no MOT and Tax and was a little rough on the ouside with the usual Mk5 rust patches but other than that a good runner on 90k.
So soon after i began the strip down
i took the headlights out as i always liked the look of the smoked ones so began my D.i.Y job
Giving them a little try on the car
Then i moved onto the interior strip
New bonnet picked up ( £20 BARGIN ) and the carpet and under floor stuff taken out.
Dam this stuff is heavy!!
New Steering Wheel purchased and puma gear knob fitted
I then started to work on plastic cover for where the Radio was.
I used part of my son's old toy garage haha!
After a little adjustment and trimming with the dremel i fitted it and gave it some carbon fibre wrap.
New Bonnet on and freestyle grill fitted.
Next up some seats and harness's, as iam on a limited budget seats were cheapys off ebay but harness's are supposed to be out date F.i.A spec out of an Impreza WRC which i got from a friend ! I think there cool even if there not haha!
A quick shot of the car outside in the winter
Then began a little Engine work replaced a few crushed vacuum pipes, strpped a few other bits and bobs, did the Cam belt and fan belt also drained all the fluids and carried out a full service. Also bought an OMP strut brace and a pair of DTM mirrors.
Then i got some old Cibie Oscar Spot Lamps from a friend made up some prototype brackets and tested them on the car.
I also got the cover's which weren't in the best of condition but gave them a rub down and a lick of paint also did the same to the spots.
Next up i had to find some metal good enough to make the brackets the spots would be fitted to i found these at a local diy shop £3 shelf brackets haha
Still loads more to come please bare with me as iam not the best at uploading stuff Haha! C&C welcome but please be gentle HAHA

Ok so starting where i left off i bought those shelf brackets which were surprisingly strong, after some drilling and grinding bolted them up and after a load of work with the dremmel cuting the bumper they fitted great and were a lot more secure than i expected.
A good fit and was well pleased still a little bit of cutting to do on them and a dash of paint but all was good this is them with the spots fitted.
Bought her a little cover to keep her warm at night
Next up i wanted to give the car a more Rally look so decided to paint my wheels white.
Didnt realise how long it would take to prep the wheels took forever but i thought might aswel do it properly.
After needing to order more paint because i used way to much haha i think they came out great since iv never done anything like that before.
Next up after removing the bonnet latch needed Bonnet pins plus think they look great.
Really didnt like drilling the bonnet haha
got there in the end ha
I then moved onto a few little jobs just things that were bugging me, one more than most was the rear window bolts they got all rusty and the rust was leaving marks all down the window, so after abit of cleaning got the marks off the window then rubbed down the bolts and painted them.
Then got around to finishing off the spot lamp brackets.
Painted my tow eye's white and fitted arrow stickers.
Also did the front tow eye and sticker plus used some of my carbon wrap to tidy up the spot lamp bracket holes.
Fitted spot lamp steadies and gave her a little clean.
Bought an LED strip light off ebay for my map light wired it to a flick switch down by the gear lever works really well very bright.
interior mostly back together here.
Next up was MSA spec 4mm Mudflaps also added a phew little M-Sport stickers to stick with the rally look.
Pic of the whole car with mudflaps fitted, gives it a better looking stance imo
Did a few little things inside then tape on the steering wheel, M-Sport sticker for the dash, still gotta get a few more bits and piecies like map pockets, spill kit and hopefully a Terratrip to do.
And now iam right up to date these pics are how the car stands now iv fitted number plates and some areo flat blade wipers but thats about it haven't done alot for a few weeks, waiting for my mate to weld my seats in.
Work still ongoing still lots of plans for the car, hopefully bolt in cage will be next then to sort out a terratrip and finish off my air intake, i will keep this thread updated as and when i get things done, think i should have done that to start with HAHA this has taken bloody ages, off to bed now . C&C Welcome please! Hope you like! Thanks in advance

Ben
Just add more silencers to the system, they're cheap to buy.
I was surprised at how well it looks with the spots, I thought it was going to look naff!
Nice work so far.

Thanks for the kind words mate
Iam in the process of having a sump and tank guard made, it's been a bit of a pain to be honest since they don't seem to make a sump guard for the fiesta or I couldn't find one anyway, I've had to make a cardboard prototype/template so I could get one made up be glad when its done just looking for someone to make it up for me now. Hopefully soon and not to much £££££ ! Fingers crossed haha

Awsome car, love seeing road rasllies cars on here, I see your location is South Wales, did you check out the cilwendeg? Don't really know if you need to go to the length of a terratrip, one of these should do it> http://www.circuit-innovations.co.uk/digitalclock1.html
Great build though, any idea on the events you'll be entering?

Thanks for the link those clocks look great, to be honest a terratrip was a little out of my budget range anyway and plus iam using all my cash to save for a cage so for £50 think il b investing in one Yea I've got a few events in mind the cars not going to ready this side of Xmas so iam looking to do the 1000 Lanes and the Gremlin next year hopefully.

Wicked project mate.
What rallies are you going to do night rallies?
I have an FRP but i just love these little fezzies they have something about them.
Great to see someone else into rallying as it made Ford which is a shame as people seem to forget that.

Yea mate night rallies/Road Rallies/night events whatever you want to call them haha
I Love FRP they look epic and from what i hear go well to i would love one !
Yea i love these Fords that really carry the Ford Rally name just a shame that with all these new models they seem to putting the rally side of things to one side and now no Factory Ford World Rally team seems like this might get worse

Yea as the exhaust goes you should be fine mate last time mine was noise tested it was just under at 95Db at 3500 so you should be able to get away with removing your sports cat but it might be close.

That looks properly mint mate. Certainly given me some inspiration for mine. Been considering the idea of some old cibies or Lucas spots. They look awesome!
