My Escort Cossie Engine Rebuild - Pics

ooh, well polished, whats the spec of the head and the approx price of the work? Was the head brand new or an older skimmed item? More spec on the finished engine mate, keep up the good work

The head’s off the original engine, which has been ported to Group A Spec, with new phosphor bronze Group A valve guides, and a light skim. The inlet manifold has also been ported and matched to the head. All work carried out by Graham Goode Racing. Cost Ł274 for valve guides and labour to fit them, to include cleaning old valves fitting and lapping in. Cost Ł645 for porting and skimming work. Head came back looking brand new, after it had been cleaned.
Block has been bored out to .50 over, and fitted with Cosworth Racing pistons. A high clamp stud and nut kit has also been fitted. Conrods all weigh the same, and have been balanced. Big End Group A Spec bolts. Crank has been fully balanced along with flywheel and AP Racing clutch cover. Will have the above 4 layer WRC head gasket fitted.
My intention is to build a good bottom end, and then play with injectors/map sensors etc. to obtain a nice reliable road/track going car. Not sure on BHP, will just have to wait and see.
All work and parts supplied by Graham Goode Racing. They are a little pricey, but the level of service, experience and support is outstanding.

Another John P needing an escort cosworth engine rebuilding. Looks like your going for a higher spec than me. Mines only a small turbo anyway and am looking to do the whole job for less than Ł1500. Your right about goodes being a bit pricey. Got 16 new valves, valve guides, hydraulic tappets n stem seals for Ł315. Will cost to have the guides pressed in but thats the top end sorted. Sourced some mahle 0.5 o/s pistons for 340. I reckon bits are going to total about Ł1100. Just hope it lasts another 107000 miles before it needs doing again...
Good luck..
John
