Took a Trip to Birkenhead wednesday night for these -

Cobra Suzukas in very good condition with side mounts, they've came from a guy who's got a Limited Edition Raider Renault 5 hence the stitching but i got them at a very good price and only used a fiver to go collect them too not too bothered that they dont actually say Suzuka on them.

they're GT width so they're 90mm wider at the front and 70mm wider at the rear than my old sparco circuits so ...

got some metal bar earlier -

only done the one as theyre really high sided seats and i wounldnt be able to use 1st and 2nd gears if i put the passenger one in yet, JUST about goes in reverse now...

Bought a 3" gearstick extension off ebay earlier, should be here tuesday/wednesday then ill whip the other seat in.

Cobras have gone now sold them on ebay, they were too wide and the gear change felt wrank with that 3" extension so ebay'd em'!

the rear wheel bearings have been Burring like mad of late, getting worse every time i drive the car so ordered a pair from Euro Car Parts saturday, picked them up earlier, going to change them tomorrow/friday night.

Also ordered some 7" 450lbs rear springs from Gaz as apposed to the 8" 250lbs i have on atm, they're going to take 10-14days to arrive.

massive improvement with the new bearings cant hear them at all

got bored as i had the day off yesturday so swapped the hub bolts round on the nearside so the camber bolt's on the bottom so then i just knocked the shock back and tightend them back up, now have near as makes no difference -2.5 degrees camber on both sides now! the tracking was knocked out yet again when adding the camber so i had to alter the tracking so its toeing out slightly again, will see how it drives on the weekend hopefully isnt pulling left or right and hopefully handles just as good going right aswell as left now the cambers matching again

also lowered the front 5mm and also noticed (pretty hard not too unless your stevie wonder) this -

Name: IMG_1869.jpg

then this, lol -

Name: IMG_1870.jpg
Views: 317
Size: 83.8 KB

the tie wrap popped off the CV gaitor so as you can see there's gearse everywhere, so replaced the tie wrap with a 8mm wide one insted of the 5mm wide one that was on it, should be fine now.

then re-fitted my ashley exhaust, ive missed the noise -

ive done a deal with a guy about the magnex exhuast and a fuel pump as he has a Bosch ERST one which i need to replace (i think) my fked one as it shouldnt be suffering from fuel starvation with 2/3tank in on track, so doing the deal sunday!

Right, with alot of questions asked and searching for info ive found out my fuel starvation issues are down to the crap design of the Mk2i Tank (never once suffered from fuel starvation on the road mind but on track with R888s on it suffers with 1/2 tank which is no good)...

so ive bought a 1L external swirlpot and ive put for sale the ERST fuel pump i got on sunday and now about to buy a Facet Red Top fuel pump as its a low pressure pump, the ERST pumps are high pressure so would be no good to use that before the swirl pot...

heres a rough (well, sh!t) drawing of how it'll look all plumbed in in the boot, with this drawing itll be less confusing now to when i come to drill holes through the bootfloor for the 4 hoses to pass through lol...

Name: IMG_1922.jpg
Views: 316
Size: 40.5 KB

Swirl pot and Facet red top are both mounted in the boot now and 4 25mm holes drilled in the front of the boot for the lines to run through, not touched the ERST pump yet until i get some Fuel hose tomorrow after work, i mustve gone to 5 places and only found one place that does more than 1m in length/on rolls and i ned 6m lol, so tomorrow all should be done!

all done -

Name: IMG_1925.jpg
Views: 342
Size: 113.0 KB

just need a coulple of P-clips now for each hose so it looks abit tidier...

bloody loud inside the car now with both pums Buzzing away!

Well... went down to Santa POD for RWYB yesturday, was alot of fun and a great day out, something different as ive never been before...

altho the times were different on the board at the end of the strip to the time sheets ill give you my times off the boards which my mates who were watching told me after every run...

My first run i ran a 14.2 @ 103mph... i was kinda happy with that considering the epic amounts of wheel spin as i launched at around 4k and didnt do a little burnout... then i ran a few 13.8s which i was happy i got in the 13s which was my aim...i didnt think id get a quicker run that them, but up against a Chevelle SS drag car i stepped my game up and scraped a 13.6 @ 108mph, chuft with that altho i didnt quite beat the chevelle haha

Pics and vids to come

you'll notice if you havnt previously, the bonnets lower on the nearside than the offside, took a look at the bonnet bracket before and it needs bending slightly, the bonnet needs removing to do this which is a ball ache, not possible on my own so thatll have to wait for abit.

haha cheers mate

picked up one of my new seats off a mate the other night, fitted that along with going upto a mates last night to sort the custom door bars finally, the front of the cage needs removing as the brackets welded onto the cage are only 30-40% welded on as its too tight to get anymore weld on down in the footwell... so when i remove the front part ill be removing he rear too and going to have a few more bars added in, more on that over winter, here's how it is for now -

Awesome day at Oulton on Friday!, weather was on our side, only rained a tiny bit, was very greasy and slippy in the morning but got a dry line towards dinner and stayed dry the rest of the day then, the video camera was abit iffy so im not sure how theyve turned out...

Swirl pot worked brilliant, was in the red at one time and still getting no starvation, win.

Springs i think seemed to have helped a tad, becuase ive got used to them i think ill feel a bigger difference if i just put them on today etc, only stiffed the rear 6 clicks instead of 12 with the old springs too.

only thing was the brakes, HEAVY judder and vibration when hard braking once they were red hot upto temp, i know one of my discs is cracked but its not a massive crack and its been absolutly fine ont he road and they were great at cadwell too... think a new set of discs and dot 5.1 fluid is in order to replace my dot 4 in atm as my pedal bit is very low now after today, when braking i was braking as hard as i could every corner it wouldnt lock up only in the damp in the morning.

new track wheels in a rare set of RS7s -

Name: IMG_2185.jpg
Views: 323
Size: 98.1 KB

obviously not going to be using the centre caps when on track fitted to try one out see what its like -

just need to get the tyres swapped over now!

Painted the gearbox in hammershite black, looks miles better the bay now, will be popping upto a mates to tidy up the inner wing and paint it properly over winter sometime.

Ordered 2 1/2meter lengths of 51mm CAF ducting for my brakes, should be here by weekened.

Bought a Polybushed Adjustable Panhard-Rod as a guy makes them on xrtwo and lots of people have had them and recommmened them, plus im currently running one 3.5mm spacer on the O/S/R to match the wheel out to the N/S/R as obvioulsy ill make the adjustable panhard-rod shorter when fitted to pull them beam over which is the whole point of it when a mk1/2 is lowered by more than 30mm.

Also, i need a new N/S/F wheel bearing as it hums/slightly vibrates on and off when cornering either way, so ill just end up doing both fronts tbh then have to alter the tracking AGAIN!

More soon.

one polybushed adjustable panhard rod -

and fitted -

Name: IMG_2190.jpg
Views: 582

before with the old solid panhard rod the rear was over to the nearside by 4mm, so fitted this up then centralised it by lining a spirit level from the wheel arch to the floor then measuring to the centre cap of each wheel so now its bob on!

cold air feeds done for the brakes too -

as always love the updates on this, proper old school cool seems like its very capable on track as well even better with you new brake set up
i should be on track around march/april next year will have de tune the r5gtt for it though run a smaller turbo and less boost i think.

are you looking at getting some more power outta the engine you have? would be nice see it hit 200bhp id imagine 285cams and headwork would see you there?

Newman Ph3's, missed out on the group buy on xrtwo so contacted Newman and he still gave me abit of discount but not as much as the group buy unfortunatly...

Should see some nice gains of around 20bhp & lbsft but all down to the timing obviously, im going to fit them as soon as my timing kit arrive off ebay, time them upto standard then take it to Mikeanics for mapping and timing set up properly!
