Talking Cleaned the underside of my cosworth (NOW STARTED WELDING 20/04/12)

Well its been a year now since i have even really looked under the car with winter looming and not alot going on i have been think about painting up the underside of my motor.
My motor has only done 87,000 and it was garage all its life before i brought it so i was hoping it would be to bad...
When i first got it i 3m shuttes the back end just to be on the safe side (now i wish i hadn't cause its fidderly to clean off).
i will let the pics do the talkin.

Started with the pressure washer

This is how it came out, i know its not prefect but its a hell of alot easier to work on now...

(thats not rust on the shell its the underseal that is stuck on there)

There is some bits have a bit of surface rust that need minor attention but on the whole i was pleased with myself for the rest of the day.

By hand for the big flat bits that you can see and get at, then spray the crooks and nannies you cant get at (but can still see) then when that has dried spray cavity wax or similar in all the bits you cant see but can get the straw/pipe into as the pressure washer will have gotten every where and you dont want it rusting where you cant see it untill its too late.

Nice job on the cleaning btw, you sure got a minter there!

Best way to protect it is let it dry out thoroughly and cover the whole underside with waxoil inc all the cavities.

Right so its been awhile since i touched the old girl ive been busy with other stuff like jetsking and off roading, O and getting a new workshop.....
so after all that fun its back to the cosworth for the short time i got her in the workshop a couple of weeks ago to see what needed doing, i new in my heart of hearts it would need a alittle bit of welding like they all do so between me and a couple of mate we brought a 185 mig welder and got started. i will let the pics do most of the talking!!!!
