You could have either drilled the block and fitted a pipe fitting into the block for the turbo oil return or just had the sump drilled and a pipe fitting welded into the sump as the return.

i was told that was an option but is quite hard to do + there is risk of cracking the block....drilling into the sump is ok but differing oil levels in the sump could result in a backlog of oil to the turbo and i dont want that! but thanks for the advice, ive had to get a new block now anyway its just been sent to be re bored and fitted with internals...

Only just noticed this thread. Good progress so far and a nice shell to begin with.
As for wheels old skool is where it's at imo and 17's although not best for handling'
Any of the following and in no particular order
Rondell 122's (bias about these though)
Stilauto ESA's
TSW Hock's
Wolfrace VooDoo's
Momo Arrows
Borbet C's
League 037's
Or any of the Ford wheels, Escos, diamond cut, softlines etc
Cant go wrong with any of these as long as it has a healthy drop

i agree with you about the ford wheels, im loving the OE look at the moment any dont want anything too ott or 'chav'....
i found a set of escos wheels + tyres at a price i couldnt refuse, even though i had to travel 300+ miles to get them!
need a big refurb on all wheels though and i have to put on 195 tyres at the front to fit the escort...
Any one in need of a set of nearly new tyres??? loads of tread left have a look at pics...

The yellow tape on the rim outline looks kinda sweet if anyone wanted to implement it on to their motor??
next step now is to find a good alarm n get the bugger insured, which going to be a mission as im 22
original bridgestone nexen tyres are availabe if anyone needs them, only 800miles done on them excellent tread
whats the best tyres to put on to fit the series1? ive heard 195/45/16 would do??

few problems ive encountered whilst im getting to know the car...
first is the common prob of overheating! iv got an airtec intercooler + twin fans on there but they dont turn on untiil the engine is already far too hot, which usualy results in some smoke coming out of the exhaust whilst hot.
secondly is either the starter motor or the battery, as nearly everytime i drive it and stop, the bastard doesnt start again it just makes an effort to and fails. this is so embarrasing at petrol pumps, where i have to take out the jump leads and ask for a hand! after a 2 minute charge it will start fine, which indicated that i have a crap battery..
but the amount of thumbs up and comments i get whilst driving around makes it worthwile
any tips on these problems?
thanks

is the battery your using new? top up the distilled water in it that should do the trick. if not then try replacing the battery with another one and see how that goes for you. if that still doesnt work then it might be that your altenator isnt holding the battery charge which means thats probly going. these are the problems with second hand parts. speaking of which i have 2 altenators lying in my garage so if you need a spare let me know. they arnt hard to change and dont take too long.
starter motors dont tend to be the problem but if your car is failing to turn over when its been driven around for a while then that could be going too.
as for the fans have a look into the msd thermostat temperature sensor. these are great. will drop your temperature to 82 degrees - the standard one is at 88 degrees and im sure anyone will agree with me on a summers day that will make all the difference!
http://shop.motorsport-developments....ostat-41-p.asp
and you might want to consider fitting an uprated fan switch. msd also does them and they are bloody amazing!

well worth it in my eyes!

well done mate , car looks great - when I had my escos I had similat probs with getting pretty hot, although they do run hot, I had alloy rad and cooler and new twin fans , ec new temp sensor , but what I also did which helped emormously was fit a new rad fan loom with a manual dash switch , plumbed in a nice dash switch so could fire up the fans as and when you need to , save waiting for them to come on ... just a thought...

Wankers mate, get a post up in General Discussion to get some attention to it. And post on www.seriesoneturbo.co.uk as well.
Post up with pictures of the inside and outside and the reg so people can clock it if it has had the plates removed.
Sickner, most likely taken for parts, but if you are lucky, someone may have just bought an id of ebay so they car may stay in tacked giving you a chance to spot it.
The more places you post, the more chance of getting ti spotted.
