Just spent the last few hours refreshing through this thread nice bud well done bud. Also bud how different/hard would it be too do what you did with the skyline box to a 350z 6speed box (rwd) the ratio's are better than T5 and the boxes are cheaper and seem to be alot stronger than T5 the 350z takes alot more torque than T5?
If you need another 3.9 front diff im pretty sure I have one if you need a spare will check tomorrow and take pics.
Hi mate thanks for your Kind words on my car . To be onest you might get away with making a adapter plate . And you could use the clutch setup witch is in the 350z gear box as it looks like it could do the job . The big thing I would look at is the length from the front of the box to the gear stick as it looks in a photo of one a long way back but that's a photo .

I agree from photos they do look big but then again the skyline box looks ad is bloody long, I've just fucked another mt75 hybrid box in mine ust dont like the abuse I only have 2 options left T5 or this option. If you dont mind me asking how much did it cost you for a custom prop (supplying the flanges)?
God now your asking the very first one I made my self but I the decided to have a one piece well a slide if one made it was a place in London that did it for me I cannot remember there name off the top of my head. But I think it was about Ł250 / Ł300 . But there are plenty of prop shaft places around
I think it was prop shaft services near Hounslow, I have their number somewhere. 200 - 300 is about right.
There are already adapter plates around for type 9 conversion to rx8 box, maybe one of those could be adapted? For my Porsche 944 to 20v turbo I made the plate out of mdf first but it helped that I knew it could be done as had seen pics online.

I have thought about this too all depeds if using an adaptor will affect the shaft going into the spigot bearing, I need to borrow the box I'm thinking of trying get it under car and in position to see how much work is involved and as for the gearstick location if its further back im sure it wouldnt be difficult to cut the 350z gear stick mounting down reweld and same for the linkage.
Small update as of Sunday at long last the replacement motor iv built from a 202 block . Well it's in and now running at last and it's all starting to come back together . It even had a small road test up the lane and it's running well .
We I had a fab track bay at kendrew barracks on Saturday I only span out 2 times
🤣🤣 I'm never spun out before. It was a MOD air bass and we was on the runways . I used just over 60 Lt,s of fuel and killed my first set of slicks they was second hand BTCC tyres and free so not really bothered about them I run them at 26.5 psi when hot
and they did the job spot on

The good thing that we all liked about this track was that we could push the cars harder than we ever had before because we felt safe as if it went rong there was nothing to hit . And the reson I spun out was I come off the gas . As with my skyline set up when you pin it it will pull you round the corner. My mates Ford Focus witch is rwd with 470bhp
it a quick car that's had a lot of Ł spent on it . But when it come to the fast tight turns I was all over him . Witch to think my car was built on a show string puts a smile on my face
It is harder to do on a turbo car due to the throttle response but exploring lift off oversteer to tighten the line when the car understeers can be really useful on a track car but as you found doing too much shifts too much weight to the front and off the rears. Great fun exploring on an open track, Bedford autodrome used to encourage it there but they had too many noise complaints from the tyre squeal police.

You need to set up the G sensor for better control of lift off oversteer to stop it snapping the centre diff open.
Iv not really messed with it to much but I do intend to as I have a good mate that has said he will come along tho a trackday with me and set it up to my driving stile as he owns a garage that build race cars for a living and they install then a lot to there cars
Hi this video was taken at the last track day we did at kendrew barracks the video is Shot from my mates Ford Focus witch is powered by a 2lt zetec motor with 450bhp and running the car in rwd . It starts off with my mate rex in the middle of us in his escort cosworth but with road types on witch he could not hack it for very long and ends up missing a corner . With that the race is on and my mate sheet in his focus starts chasing me witch was a lot of fun . all so the GoPro dose get smashed but keeps filming to the end
Well all went very well at the last trackday apart from the clutch not being 100% and by the end of the day when I put the clutch to the floor it was dragging so I just fort it needed a new master cylinder witch iv fitted today. Then I went under the car to bleed it and that's when today went rong . The bell housing has cracked big time
100% fixable mate you should no me by now when something brakes I look into it and make it stronger . and as I'm still getting parts together to build a 500Bhp motor in happy as I can still fix this problem and make it stronger so the new motor won't brake it .
As the gearbox has got to come off I'm on the lookout for a light wait flywheel to try and get the motor more snappy out of the tight corners

Been there done that. You can see the reason and what the fix is right there in that picture.
Mine has been fine since.
Thanks for the reply . And ye I can see the resin it's broken and wot I'm going to do to fix it but as you have kindly said you have had this problem and you sorted it . It would be nice if you could put some photos up of wot you did to sort yours .
What is the reason that it has broken? And what is the fix?
I spoke to a company in Kent who said they could take a sand casting of one and produce them without the need for the weld.
Could you weld over the crack and then put some sort of girdle around it and weld over that.? (a bit like putting a whole piece of plaster board over a crack and then skimming with plaster in house terms)

I don't have any pics but look at that rib at the bottom, it needs to be joined to the Skyline box. Both boxes had them, you and I (although I didn't weld mine originally) did not rejoin it.
I spent around 30-45 mins warming the whole lot up before welding it too.
No photos but the gearbox is out and the bell housing has been removed and is being dropped off tomorrow to my mates to be welded it was cracked over 1/2 way round. Photos to follow when it's all welded back together
Just a small update the gearbox is now back in the car and working and iv had my wheels powder coated and I got fead up of my old trailer so iv bort a Brian james A Max Iv had to do some work on it and sores a wheel rack witch I picked up Friday from Gifford. So I'm all ready for my next trackday witch I booked last night ( 26th august blyton park )
