I've started looking into this mod and I've started working out wot fittings I will need as I run a 2wd head . so I will still need to send a oil feed from somewhere to the turbo . I'm going to open up the 1/4 NPT up to 3/8 NPT witch will have a AN-10 size fitting coming back from the oil cooler set up

my 200 block dose have a liner down number 3 now as it had some damage in it so I had a linner put in it . Iv never been told that 200 blocks need linners in them for 500Bhp . Please give me more info if you have it

What oil pump are you using? Looks like a standard pinto pump but presumably youre gonna swap the lid for a cossie one? Be careful as I bought a pinto pump and fitted my freshly skimmed cossie lid, fitted the sump ect and when I fired my engine up I was only getting 40 psi oil pressure so had to strip it back down again and get a pump suitable for a yb

Mine was fine with a 200 at 500bhp till I chucked a rod lol but as a road car track cars do take more shit. Sleeves and proper liners are two very different things. A sleeve will repair and damaged bore. A proper liner will add strength to the block

Exactly most sleeves are grey iron which isnt that strong where as liners will be ductile iron or steel

I had 10 min to my self today so I had a look at drilling and taping the block up to 3/8 NPT
Before starting standard size
1/2 way down the hole with the drill
Drilled all the way to the bottom of the hole ready for the 3/8 NPT tap
Tapped out and threads cleaned out
3/8 NPT to AN-10 fitting tryed in and all good
And the set up I will be running when the motor gose together . Up to now I'm very happy the way it's going

The metal fatigues with time and they they are just getting too old now.
Sure it could be fine but if rebuilding it all and for the cost Id liner it, is it worth the risk just for it to split a bore....
Cheers Paul

Didn’t realise it was my engine as it has been painted since. Yes, I can see now that mine was done like that. It feeds to an ally pipe with all the pressure sensors etc on it. I cannot remember much as it has been so long.

I guess It’s only an old pinto so it cannot be too hard or complicated. I haven’t rebuilt that part of an engine before but if I had to I think something like a pinto would be the place to start....keep it all in order in a super clean environment and follow the torque instructions....

I’ve built a fair few engines at work if you took it apart and have all the torque data there pretty simple. We deal with new stuff at work if a component goes it’s replaced with new.
I think reconditioning is where things get difficult. When you have to measure parts and get them machined or decide for yourself if things are in or out of tolerance and ok to use again. That’s when engine building becomes more involved. I seen a fair few mates now rebuild there old engines only for them to last a couple of years before something goes wrong. Tolerances are very important especially if your going for power

Yeh I suppose if your just changing shells it could be fairly easy.
It's been very long time since I've done any engine work. Normally these days it just fit a new engine instead of preparing it.

with the cost of Cossie bits it is a big risk if something is not right, thats why I am sending my engine to Mark Shead for a quick check over and a few bits.
yours looks like you will be building up soon? What colour will you paint the block?
My New TT Engine will hopefully be finished this week.

Well the build has started at last as I got the crank back from being reground .25 on mains and Big ends
Plastic gauge strips in place
Oil spray jets in place and set up the crank hits them so a bit of tweaking was needed
First piston in place . And you can just see two oil ways block off

Small update this week my new turbo turned up a Borg Warner efr 7064 I'm well happy with it .
I am planning on using the standard manifold but when mocking it up it's looking like I will need to use a 48mm manifold spacer . has any one else fitted this turbo to a standard manifold if so please share any info you have please

I've got the same turbo on my focus rs. I can't help you sorry, but I'm looking forward to seeing how it performs on your new engine.

They need the twin scroll manifold to get the best results. I am not sure if anyone has run one without but there was talk of adapting a 2wd standard manifold as they are twin scroll I believe.
