Thanks for all the comments, it's appreciated
The gear box linkage is now back on the car
Hopefully I'll be taking my wheels for a refurb in the next couple of weeks + i'm also on a parts gathering mission at the minute so I won't be doing that much to the car for a few weeks

The exhaust will be the very last thing I do after cleaning/painting the underside rear of the car which I probably won't be starting until the end of next year. It's only clean upto where you can see on that last pic, still covered in wax oil and dirt behind it.
In the end I couldn't plate the gearlinkage rods (only wasted about 20+ hours preping on that one ) so ended up painting them. I'll probably keep an eye out for a pair of new ones and change them at a later date (only one of them is still available from ford )
As for part collecting, well it's mainly nuts, bolts, washers clips etc plus a couple of other expensive items.

just another small update:
picked up a few more parts from ford yesterday
and now my rs turbo has a turbo once again
Thats it for now, though I'm having real trouble trying to find the small connector that fits into the oil feed in the top of the turbo, so if anyone can help me out it would be really appreciated.

Just another small update!!!
Front brake calipers have been replaced (hence a change in colour). I was having issues in regards to the bleed nipples not sealing properly with the old ones. So took the safe option and replaced them.
I have also had my wheels refurbished
Before
[
After
The car is now off it's axle stands and back on it's wheels
I've now been able to connect the clutch cable (oh what joy) and the throttle cable inside the car and refit the drivers seat. I've also changed the lower steering colum shroud for a new item as the original was slightly broken.

Finally done a bit more today,
Picked up a new alternator
Here it is fitted with powdercoated bracket & heatshield
Along with new headlamp units and indicators
Just need to save for a new intercooler and a few other small bits and it should be about done hopefully.

cheers for the replies.
I'm not putting ambers back on at the minute, maybe I will if I ever put the spots back on.
Finally the thing is about done and it even runs though not without a few problems to start with.
After filling up with coolant it started to weep out the head gasket, so that had to be changed.
It also had a leak on the turbo oil return pipe which has now also been sorted.
Just got to get a new oil cap, re-fit the air filter box, take it for its mot and tax it.
After that there's a few exterior body fittings to be replaced, I want to get rid of the white (faded to light orange) dials on the inside and then I can start collecting the parts to do the underside.
