Escort Cos (C3SEE) fast road/trackday toy begins
Right not sure where to start.
I started getting fed up not having a perfomance car last time was may 2005 (Wrx sti type-r). I then went around knockhill for the first time as a passenger in my mates Evo 1 rs and i was hooked and wanted to try a track day myself. So i bought a wrx that was gonna be used pure as a track car but changed my mind and sold it as i wanted something i could enjoy on the road as well. I started having a look around for an Evo 7 but insurance (only 24) and servicing costs put me off. I then came across this and seemed to have a good spec so i bought it on 05/08/06.
The spec off the top of my head:
Spec
Low comp bottom end long studded with grp A Gasket
Mahle pistons
New rods
Bearings seals etc
Ported Head new valves etc..
BD12 cams
Light blue injectors
T34 . 48 360 thrust bearing
Samco's everywhere
Group A Breather System
Alloy header Tank
P8 ecu with a Pectal board fitted
18" Old style compomotive MO's
Ap 4 pots with 330mm disc
Koni Suspension all round
HKS Evc boost controller
JR Induction kit
So the bug of Cosworth ownership had started. I got myself booked on a Knockhill trackday straight away with SIDC 19/08/06.
Here is some pics
I had a good time but being my first trackday ever and only owning the car just over a week the car was held back by the talent of the driver.
Now that winter is approaching fast its time for some changes to be made and some problems to be fixed.
First off i seen Kelv's cosworth in his sig and i liked the look of the front of the car. So i set out to find some RS500 fog lamp grills cheers Radman
Before
After
Planning on putting an oil cooler in the passanger side headlight. I am also getting a custom made carbon induction pipe for the driverside.
Now for the problems .
Well my drop links were gone so they have been replaced.
I now have a missfire changed Crank sensor and phase sensor and new plugs. Think my grp A coil is fubared but i believe they are on back order at the minute.
Anybody in the Aberdeen area got one that i could borrow??
I also have a power steering leak which i will be fixing with an alloy power steering tank and braided hoses with fittings.
I have no idea what happend with the exhaust why it ended up in a shape like this. I'm unsure if i'm going to purchase a new system or not. The current one is scorpion and it runs very close to the prop. Are mongoose different??
Picture of joint between downpipe and centre section needless to say it leaks.
Anyway let the project begin i have plenty of idea's and changes in mind. Mainly handling and bhp but the bodywork is going to be fixed up probably a full paint. So hopefully this is of interest to some of you's and will keep you updated.
coming soon upgraded fuel system, cooling, brakes, suspension, Oh and new tyres.
