Not any as of yet, its a bit manic here at M-Tech! Paul has got another oil feed line to us and we have fitted it, looking to map it over the next couple of days...

Its certainly running alot better now, and the stopping and starting has given me a chance to get the cold start right

haha to be honest I do!

I have a ecanic and an auto lec, but I always find myself stuck in the office during the day and then do bouts of mapping in the eves!!

Right, must crack on!

Well..
We had a problem...

The headgasket went at just idle/light load... upon further inspection, the headstuds were all loose/varying torques. Paul took up with the engine builder, and they have taken responcibility for it.... they are making it up to him by assembling the next engine (Paul is after 2.1 with ST170 head....)

So Paul then bought from us an ST170 engine and PEC 86mm psitons and rods package, then he's bringing it back down for mapping. The aim? 350+ bhp :P

Will keep you all posted!

Shocking, hear more and more about dodgy engine builds by companies lately. But nice to hear them taking responsibility

350+ is a piece of piss on a standard blacktop head.

and i wouldnt let this engine builder near the new engine if they couldnt torque a head down.

it's things like that that have made me do most of the work on my rst myself. atleast then if it goes wrong i've only got myself to blame and not a lengthy arguement to get some one else to own up to missing something out. not to mention it's more satisfying being able to say you built it yourself

hope all goes well with the new build.

regards

Tom

Yeh it was a bit of a pain in the ass for us, but Paul said the engine builder was spot on and has taken the steps to resolve it. Think it was just a mistake on their part, we all make them from time to time. They have been good about it though so we look foward to getting it back for some serious mapping!

Surely if the head gasket has gone, run hot an caused the head to warp then head studs will be at different torques as they'd of been stretched?

Dan,

Maybe, gut the engine never really got hot, we didnt even begin mapping load, just idle and so on.

If anything I think it may of been cooked at the place that bodged all the wiring etc
