Project Ka Turbo - Updated - Few Unwanted Mods
#324
its my old engine. he bought my silver fiesta turbo for £500 as the turbo had blown.
What else did you get off the car?
The bottom end will need a set of piston rings as the oil cap kept blowing off the the boost was turned up, also the big ends are a little noisey. i fitted a new water pump, head gasket, 4x exhaust valves and a complete head rebuild.
I hope you didn't pay 2 much 4 it

Prices vary my mate John got the green one for about 650. I paid 2650 for mine and they go right upto 11500 for a brand new sportka SE
For a project id £1000 was reasonable. Just make sure its NOT got pas.
Been offered 5k to park with mine as it is, gonna do some serious thinking.

5k - not a bad price, considering the damage, but just think of all the money poured into it!
i´ve hit another prob. james took it to ava to get set up. they reckon that i need a standard actuator, as the one i have is holding 12 psi minimum.
but, unfortunately, thats the least of my worries. fuck knows why, but they reckon the big end bearings are on there way out. well, the thought this to the extent that they stopped the run, before i got a graph. thats an engine out job, if i remember correctly??
also, there seems to be an oil leak from the back of the turbo - fuck sake.
i´m going to have to write a ´how not to do an engine conversion´post when/if i get it running. absolutely scunnerred with it now!
oh well... ´never said it would be easy.. only worth it´ and all that shit.
glad your sounding a bit more positive about your beast sy.
you get my pm about dropping by circa 4th jan?

Hello mate, I'v been reading your thread and your work is quality, it looks so fresh!
I'm currently in the process of trying to get a 2.0L zetec s lump into a Mk5 fiesta 1.25. And i have found no help anywhere I don't think many people have carried out this conversion I was wondering could you point me in the right direction
I had a look at you website- Katurbo.co.uk, and I'm sure what you have done is what i will need to do, as the rs turbo blocks are mounted in the same way as the zetec s blocks.
This is probably a long shot but I'm sure the floor pan on the ka is the same as the mk5 fiesta's and puma's, what modifications did you carry out on your engine mounts to hold the block in position, did you need spacers to drop the engine down like they do on zetec turbo's in mk3 fiesta's? Did you use the original ka drive shafts?Man i've got loads more questions but i feel harsh asking them all at once
Ps keep the Ka it's a beast!
Cheers for any help Aaron

Right, the rebuild has started.
Been collecting a few bits for it.
Got a set of front arches to replace the damaged ones.
Borrowed a wheel to stick on there so i can drive it to garages for quotes
Tracked down a Manta mirror Cheers Andy B
Hopefully going to be collecting a second hand door in the next week.
Also ordering a set of these to replace the Ronal R10's.
Was a tough desicion to find something id liked to replace them but these are 6kg each so it a good weight saving as well as looking hard as nails.
Going for 15"

took a while to look all the way through your post but well worth it glad to hear you are keeping the beast as it truely is a beast
its made me really want a ka now even standard power one its just the way yours looks so low with the centre zorst and the wide archs and that interior truly are jealous of it
maybe a new project to start when i sort myself out
big respect to you for doing such a project and keeping it at the end of it

No mate, no new rims as yet. Haven't heard from you since before xmas about the schmidt and at the moment im stretching money as far as possible. Still interested in them if we can get the price low enough. suppliers are open again tomorrow so ill be quote hunting again.
Went to see the Ka today to fit the new mirror and front arches as best i could to make the car road worthy to get some quotes. Took it for a quick spin and im getting serious steering issues from the damaged side so will need to strip it all down and find out whats bent
Some pics of it now
sitting on its new borrowed rim with the wing gaffer taped up for safety
yet more new bits added ££££
Borrowed rim looks awesome, shame i can steal the rest of them
More updates as they happen.

It will look good with those dark wheels on, be sure to snap up some pics of them on the ka when they arrive.
has the front suspension bedded in the way you wanted yet? Still looks a little high!

A few more updates.
Alloy - the suspension never really bedded in as much as id liked it to have, i still have the 8" springs in the garage to fit though.
Ben - The ZT will go in no problems as the CVH isnt even a tight fit really. Plenty of room all round the engine. Im building a zetec n/a for a mate after summer so ill let you know how it goes!
Billy - enthusiasm for my car has all gone now im afraid. I cant find any suspension damage so i think it could be the chassis leg decided to break the car now to release funds so i can buy a TT
Engine conversion for ford Ka Now on ebay!!
CLICKY CLICKY!

Cheers for the comments Anna!
Billy. By total coincidence i pop on here for one of very few times since Jan not only to see my post on the first page but also your car, still not finished but looking Fucking awesome! Looks like a seriously nice job your doing.
I didnt get the TT in the end. They were going for far too much than i could afford. I did however go for an Audi, 1.8 20v turbo, quattro! But an A3! Its been modded a little and has a chip taking the engine to 220bhp at 1.5bar of boost. I will eventually be going for more power.
A few pics of the beast
Euro Smooth
Fat 10" wide rims!
S3 Recaro Interior retrimmed by Farrari
A TV/DVD
Arty Shot
Porsche Boxster S Calipers with Golf R32 335mm discs!
Some bass to go in when i get a few hours
Not a ford but a very lush car!

By total coincidence also, *Anna* is my other half and we have been toying with a Ka Turbo for her, so i hunted down your thread to see how things were going. Only to see it was about 6 or 7 pages down
Any how, i like the £3k Ka - my kinda budget too
Do you know if Blakey's is still on the road?
