great work mark , your car has a cvh turbo running around 22 psi and my mate from derby called jim owns it. its got tiger strips and I think he purchased the car from you as a rolling shell. strong little car but not built to the spec that you built it orginally

It's got a coswroth managed cvh, not quite your previous spec. That was a mad engine I wish I'd never sold it.

Not done much on the car of late,

The fella I am using for my wiring harness should be coming back to me with a price for the full chassis loom and set up so I can see what I'm looking at and what I have to save lol

Other than a few water hoses the only other main thing I need is the exhaust so I thought I may have a go at some of it myself, but before I attempt it I needed somewhere to sit comfortably and weld rather than on my hands and knees like I have up until now

So I drew up some plans and measurements and had a custom welding table top laser cut and cut up some box section myself and then drilled and countersunk flat socket caps,

Came out pretty well and it's so nice to have somewhere to sit and weld

Not done too much to the car lately as been busy making my tool trays and teaching myself tig welding etc,

So chucked on the lathe to turn it down and remove it then tig weld the new part on

My first tig welded part other than practice scrap I've been making, ok it could be neater but quite happy with it to be honest

Not the greatest update but il be plodding on with the rest of the exhaust over the next month or so,

Place is, 3" system all the way through, v-band joins throughout, small flexi in downpipe to stop damage to manifold or vibration loosening of bolts etc,
Big silencer to assure track noise regs are met and then 2 side exit letter box shape exhaust

Love it Marc, sooo handy having a lathe!
Exhaust sounds like its goona be trick too, Not keen on letter box tailpipes though, cant you have twin 2" round ones? slash cut in line with the side skirts, Only my opinion but i think that would suit the car more

Cheers Less, Paul

Gary, I agree the letter box are not the nicest but I'm not sure I can fit in a round pipe nicely, but il sort them last and could even v band the tailpipes too so i can change when I fancy lol

Thanks for the comments guys, , not done anything on the car lately as I've been pretty busy doing parts and welding etc for other people and my tool trays etc but finally had a play yesterday

Decided it was time to mount my new custom pro alloy cooler and try and totally seal it to the radiator so the all airflow can only go through both and help cool things better rathe than taking the path of least resistance and the air going through the cooler then escaping around the radiator,

So I used adhesive foam strip to seal around the radiator

Name: 2FC051A0-75AF-46B6-8A8E-4187325492DC-1492-0000033163566D88_zpsd8c2e686.jpg
Views: 242
Size: 204.9 KB

Then made some small alloy brackets to bolt the rad to cooler and keep the 2 pressed tightly against each other to create a nice seal

Name: 7A7D60EE-D0DE-47EF-A67D-C24CDD3FD487-1492-000003316DE3CED7_zps59ddea15.jpg
Views: 259
Size: 72.2 KB

This keeps them very tight

Name: AAF76B72-19E4-4F8D-8855-66299C39723C-1492-0000033191A8DBBE_zps5876c917.jpg

Size: 115.8 KB

Once re fitted the foam at the top squeezes out of shape a bit too much so needs re doin so il get new wider foam to help it sit better then I have sealing tape as used in wrc etc to cover the foam, again this bits rough as it's just a test fit and the foam needs replacing but it all fits very well and when running up the twin fans the intercooler will suck a bit of paper to itself from a few 3-4" so there's definitely no loss between the 2

A few pics

Finished off the mock brackets for the laminova today

First job was an extension piece of the rad fan mount as i needed extra width for a nut and bolt

So welded a piece on big enough to trim and drill after

Size: 72.0 KB

Name: IMG_5730_zpsd2805baa.jpg
Views: 232
Size: 76.7 KB

Then after an idea to mount the bottom bracket for the laminova i needed to press out the small studs the fan bracket comes with

out they come

Name: IMG_5726_zps7a3fff88.jpg
Views: 220
Size: 103.5 KB

Then time to turn down some socket cap head and fit those instead

Size: 116.7 KB

Name: IMG_5729_zps687eb3f5.jpg
Views: 239
Size: 62.8 KB

These new longer bolts were to suit some new stand off post i machined up quickly

Name: IMG_5731_zps8f85a55c.jpg
Views: 242
Size: 117.2 KB

And after a bit of assembly the mock bracket was completed and the laminova mounted nicely to the fan bracket which in turn bolts to the radiator, again the brackets will be re made from nice new shiny ally in slightly thicker size but looks good i think and does the job superbly
