Top work as usual mate, really enjoy watching this progress. Might be a bit of a daft / obvious question but will it be driven on the road or just for track?

It will be road legal purely to make it easier to move about and for the odd drive to a mates/road test but mainly track

Well got the car back from Simon @ Sileck motorsport wiring

Very nice fella and has done a very nice job of the loom

Hired a transporter for the day as i do not yet have my own and went to collect it

Everything all done and sorted other than 1 small issue of the boost gauge bulb holder not getting power least its nothing major and most like just a lose or unplugged pin in a connector so Simon is going to stop by and sort it next time he is my way

So here is some photo's of the work that has been done

Hidden away neatly are all the mini relays and the main relays for fuel pumps and coils,

All labelled up and tucked away behind the brake fluid under the old airbag cover on the passenger side of dash

The entire loom is made up of type 44 wire and heatshrunk with raychem, even the boot loom for the number plate lights

Extra plugs pre fitted for an intercom system and aux interior light, not yet fitted as havent found 1 i like but both intercom and light plugs are on switches in the main switch box

These are plugs that are ready for wing indicators, as the car is made after a certain year it should by Mot rules have side repeaters but due to the jwrc arches i do not run them, but......just incase it ever causes me mot issues etc then Simon put in the wiring for them but only to a plug so if i ever need them i can just make the other small section of loom from plug to bulb

All blanked off ready if needed

Every bit off loom is new, inc light looms and alternator and starter motor and earths etc

Rear sub loom on a big plug through the boot floor, this allows the fuel pump box to be unplugged and completely removed to work on at the bench without having to undo the wiring to the actual pumps etc

Also has an anderson plug that is tucked away behind the passenger seat if a boost pack is needed.

The bracket is just a hand bent item and is not the finished item, i will be looking to have one machined from billet so it is proper symmetrical etc and looks pukka but we had to make something up for now

Steering wheel buttons are on a curly cord and are on a top spec as connector that i will make a proper mount for but for now it's just tucked by the dash panel

And that is about it really, it looks just as good as i had hoped and still has that proper rally car look and feel to it with everything there for a reason, FUNCTION OVER FORM

The engine does run, for the first time ever in the car

But ive only run it for a short while until i can get the dash can linked to the ecu to check oil and fuel pressure etc

Excited to have it home is an understatement, especially when the car has a new home in the integral garage which is heated and carpeted right next to my kitchen and i can see it every time i walk to the fridge to get a beer which makes me smile MASSIVELY

I am not sure that I have ever seen a nicer car...ever! I love the attention to detail, Rod did a similar job on my engine loom.

Love it and can't wait to see it driven in anger.

I drove mine for the first time in 5 months and it was just brilliant to experience although I still have a long way to go before I will be happy with the whole thing.

Massive respect for all the attention to detail. Nothing to envy to a top spec team car. Also I use your build as a guide for lots of things for my own track car build!

Mark can you not get a rubber square gear gater, cut it down and should pup under the tunnel nicely, car look mega top job on the wiring, deep down i wish my car had been finished but i have not regretted breaking it, bank manager also agrees with the decision

Good luck with the car i hope it exceeds your expectations, just needs some top diffs and gearbox and it will be right up there.

Thanks mate, appreciate the nice comments you and others have made, i look forward to the first drive around a track

I made the lines up myself mate, using proper Aeroquip power steering hose and steel fittings, which are the only ones you should use due to the extreme pressures in the power steering system

Same here mate, i have used various car builds i have seen on the net to influence my own build and there is still things id like to redo

Good spot Rob, that gaitor was a trial fit a while back but was no good but i have forgotten to take it off lol i will be fitting something else but have not yet found one i like so the search continues,

I can imagine how you feel having not finished yours and obviously you had your reasons but i would never be willing to let someone else have the pleasure of finishing the car if i gave up after all the blood sweat and tears i have put into it, it's 5 years of my life, every penny and every spare moment committed to it even when i had had enough of things but as said before i can see the light now and the big expense is done,

Proper RnD front diff and RnD dog box will be the icing on the cake but that will be in the years to come as id expect that to be about 8k i spose which will not be available anytime soon lol

Thanks for all the nice comments

Glad you like it

Thanks
Marc

I'm looking forward to seeing this in the flesh.

I would love mine to have a proper rewire like this. I did mine all myself and although I'm proud that everything works, I can't help but think it would be so much better done by a pro lol.

Stu - fair play if you can do yourself mate, but wiring is not something I like to get involved with, I'd say 60% of all Cossie problems are wiring related if not more lol plus shitty electrics can cause fires and very hard to trace intermittent problems so I did not want to risk it and got Simon on the case

I know

Got Tommy Field popping round 1 evening hopefully this week to switch on all the can setting and fan and fuel pump settings on the Ecu for me so I can run it up properly to bleed coolant system etc as currently everything in Ecu is turned off as it's new and was not needed on the dyno

Then I will concentrate on sorting the clutch issue out then when that is sorted it can go for corner weighting and Geometry set up with Tom Field senior

So that's the plan for next few weeks
