Mk6 JWRC fiesta cosworth
#1441
Small update
Spent the weekend at retro ford sow at pod with a few mates and was hoping to see a few color idea's for painting the fiesta but to be honest it was a lot quieter than i thought it would be and i only really see 1 color i liked and it was on a mk1 escort,
Color is Vauxhall Moonland Metallic Grey, a thought it was a nice compromise in that it is not too dark and not too light, what do you guys think?
Could anybody photoshop it onto this?
The good news is the car is being picked up for it's trip to Gaz for paint on wednesday so have a few things to do before it is ready and its off so thats a BIG BIG step forward.
I got the grp a wheel nuts through from Tim, gave them a clean on the wire wheel and an oil up and also ran a tap through them all to clean and check the threads
Also back from the laser cutters is the other set of camber washer parts in case i need to use them on the new group a front bilsteins, but i wont find this out till the car is set up but they are ready if needed
Fitted the genuine ford bonnet i got from the breakers and it fits 100 times better and does not sit up on the wings like the carbon one did so i will use this for now
Now my next debate is i finally got hold of a new JWRC bonnet vent but i have only seen them in pics before and when it turned up i soon realized they are made to go on the passenger side of the bonnet on the proper jwrc/s1600 fiesta's! so even though i have seen people like "cossy909" have theres on the drivers side over the turbo on the yb i have not seen 1 close up, the way the vent curves is to match the swage line on the passenger side of bonnet so looks a little out on drivers side?
What do you think? obviously it will be bonded on/blended with the centers cut out and mesh behind it, and remember its function over form and a vent will definitely be needed sorry about the crap angle pictures but i couldnt be bother to un barracade the doors but maybe take better pics later today
New bonnet pins to match the rear ones
And lastly a big big thanks to Steve "Wellens7" for sorting me out my new AP lug drive clutch and new paddles, your a star mate
(there not fitted in correct order in pics)
Few more little updates later maybe depending what i get done
Thanks
Marc

That colour is spot on, not so sure about the vent but. I think you should do the same as Chris did and cut between the bonnet's strengthing bars. I know it's copying but it will look alot better plus with the 2 cuts either it will draw more cold air into the bay.

Cheers for the comments guys
The color is definitely on the short list,
As for the vent im with you in the fact it doesn't look quite right so i have marked up the bonnet for the vent and for cutting out the squares as on Aly's fiesta cossie
Think i am leaning towards the square cut outs as it is less work as no bonding and blending in vent and i can sell the vent on to get back some of the Ł138 it cost me
Also cut out all the extra security plastic the goes around the door catch/lock mechanism to stop thieves using bars down the door cards etc as this is not needed now and there was a lot of it and now it's down to bare minimum
will be nicely covered by these anyway
Also looked at where to fit the bonnet pins, these will not be cut out until the front end has been aligned spot on,
Also put the wing mirrors etc then went around the car with a marker pen to make notes of what needs doing where when it goes in for paint,
i was going to cut out the full internals of the new bootlid but after weighing what i cut out of the old 1 and how much it flexed when cut out i have decided to leave this 1 99% intact, for less than a kilo weight saving it's not worth i don't think so may just trim the odd bit off and leave the majority

Spanner monkey
looks the danglies mate, the colour is awesome and i think will suit it 100% I think you are doing the right thing by not using the vent and chopping the bonnet out!
Love it.!

Marc , looking at the angle on that bonnet vent , it looks like it should be on the other side of the bonnet (i know its no use there) . try it see if it looks any better ??? you may need to get another vent or one made to suit the angle of the bonnet on the o/s .

Cheers Gary
Simon - It is designed for the other side originally but I didn't realise this when I bought it or I would not of bothered.
Dingla - I don't want to cut it up for risk of still not liking it so I will put it up for sale as it is brand new.
Cheers Coley
I do have the bug but unfortunately my bank balance is not as large as my enthusiasm

Ok bonnet vent has been decided on..........
Sorry to copy Aly but it's such a straight forward cheap way of doing it,
Rough cut out
Cut out fully just needing final fettle when painted
So i now have a Jwrc bonnet vent for sale that cost me Ł138 last week, selling for Ł120 delivered if anyone is interested.
While i had the grinder out i also made up this little piece
To fill this little hole
Car is being picked up tomorrow to go to Gaz's bodyshop in Durham

Cheers guys
Gus - don't want to cut any more out, i think that is plenty good enough,
The AM Sport fiesta looks menacing in grey so hopefully mine should look good and i think i will bite the bullet and just go for Vauxhall Moonland Metallic Grey
Cochyn - yeah i didn't want to just plate behind it and fill with weld so rather take 10 mins and cut a proper in fill piece, just have not had time to weld it in so will ask Gaz to do it for me if he don't mind
Dave - It's not me taking the car up mate, Justin 'B13 JUS" is collecting it for me after dropping his car at Mark Sheads tomorrow

There not that big mate and I don't want to put any vents in it anyway, too much hassle just like the jwrc vent

Fudgey - I would not cover it like that once painted, anyway that cover lasted 5 minutes after Justin left mine, he got on the first duel carriageway and it come off lol lucky enough weather was good so got away without using it
Doug - what Color is on that car then? Looks nicenon the big arches.
Gaz pm'd me to say the car is now at his safe and sound as Justin stored it at his house for a night for him and that after a quick look over it, this one is gonna be a proper mission were his words! Hopefully he can do something with it!
