Hi Jon

Yeah they are better than a normal oil radiator and better that they stabilize each other as water heats the oil quick then the keep each other at a stable temp people just don't tend to use them as they cost 4 times as much

As for your tool tray mate I will be doing a few this week so il keep you posted.

Default Where to buy?

Sorry if this is one of those "can't you read?" questions.

Where do you buy those amazing uprights from? If I remember correctly, they're Cosworth? But Where do I go to buy Cosworth parts?

Been sorting the water hoses for the fiesta this week, Some will stay as they are but some i will get 1 piece pipes bent up and 1 piece hoses at a later date so the joins you see in places will not all be staying

hi mark , your doing a great job on the car , just a bit of advice , whenever ive read about dry sump systems or wet sump oil systems they've all said you should not use forged fittings , they should be swept only for oil system no matter how small the hose is. I don't want you to have probs with your engine after all the hard work you've done and money you've spent.
hope this helps and keep up the good work

cheers paul

Good call Paul

I remember reading that myself in various threads about swept and forged fittings so I have just ordered 2 swept 90 fittings to replace them
Cheers for the heads up and bringing it to my attention, for literally a few quid it's not worth the risk as you say

Decided I am going to make the exhaust system myself for 3 reasons mainly, it will keep my busy for the next few weeks or months depending how much time I get spare, it good practice with the tig welder and hopefully it will save me a bit of money!

It may not end up as good as a professionally built item but I can live with that when I know it was made by me

So first easy bit was chopping up a mandrel bent section of 1.5mm wall 304 stainless I got off the net and welding on the v-band flange for the first bit of the down pipe

As Said, not the best but good enough considering I'm totally self taught so il only get better hopefully lol

Need to get another flow regulator before I do the next bit as I am going to properly purge weld the rest

Have 2 lambda bosses ready to weld in as well, and when the down pipe is complete I will start the task of adding in the waste gate pipe so it vents back into the exhaust

That's all for now

Thanks
Marc

Nice and secure, protected and easily accessible if needed and to allow easy removal as an anti theft feature

As im really enjoying learning to Tig weld etc i got myself a new ck9 flex head tig torch today with super flex cable as i didn't like my r-tech w26 torch, to heavy too bulky and the cable being 2 separate line for power and gas was heavy & restricted working position,

This one is soo nice to use

Size comparison

Name: IMG_5928_zpsab2240a5.jpg

Size: 1.82 MB

Name: IMG_5929_zpsacd1c590.jpg

Adapter to join gas so it flows inside the super flex power lead so you only have 1 very light cable attached to torch

Name: IMG_5931_zps23142cb0.jpg
Views: 263
Size: 1.99 MB

I like to wrap it around my arm when i weld so i don't have any weight hanging off the end of the torch

Name: IMG_5930_zpsbd93101b.jpg
Views: 255
Size: 1.97 MB

So with that plugged in and ready to go it was time to carry on with the downpipe, don't really have many in between pics from today but here is the main section as of today,

Keeping it up high

Name: IMG_5933_zpsd5b4c5ad.jpg
Views: 237
Size: 46.4 KB

Name: IMG_5939_zpscd39d34a.jpg
Views: 261
Size: 81.4 KB

Lots more to test me on the downpipe still as i want to plumb the external wastegate pipe into this as well so that is gonna be fun!!!!!!!!

More soon

Thanks
Marc

So far it probably owes me about Ł1800 but theres lots I need to by as far as clamps etc go as holding the work piece etc is just as important as welding it so a decent welding table and clamps are a must,
