Think I'm gonna try mountin it properly in both positions then decide but I'm leaning towards the column mounted position.

Bought myself a steering wheel hook as everytime I took it off and put it on the dash I was knocking the screen and though it won't be long before I crack it so a hook solved that

Looks like its getting there Marc.
If you go for colum mounted dash I would be tempted to get a LHD dash and cut and shut it with the RHD one before flocking to do away with the original gauge pod.

Ł3-4k for a loom?? WTF

Surely with such a stripped out car its just a basic lights/demist/washers/guages loom plus an engine ecu and engine ancilliary loom??

The original fiesta loom is not worth the hassle mate as id be using so little of it

I have spoke to Will Pedley about the wiring of the car but have not made a final decision on who i will be using, 3-4k is not a great deal as the parts needed alone are roughly Ł2400

As said above Warren 3-4k is not just for a loom but for the entire electrical management system of the car other than the engine loom and although many of you will say it's total overkill and a waste of money, i think that after spending what i already have to make the car as good as it is, this type of electrical system and keypad set up is perfect and money well spent

I haven't decided on the exact products yet but these are what i have looked at so far with Will when discussing options

Just to clarify where the 3-4k quote came from, I quoted Marc for a Motec Power Distribution Module, Racegrade keypad and CAN Gateway to integrate with his ECU, the rest of the wiring loom would be made to Raychem System 25 standards. I did also quote for a traditional fusebox style loom, but as with the whole project, Marc is building it to a very high spec and appreciated the benefits of intelligent power management

Varies from car to car Richie, as a ball park figure for a modular fusebox and braided loom its around Ł1500.

Takes around two weeks normally.

Didnt realise you were going for a nutcase mental all CANBUS controlled loom. Thats pretty much top flight motorsport stuff.

Still abit overkill IMO but if i had the money id do similar as its making it the best it can be.

That fusebox based loom qoute is a lot more sensible to most people Will

If your looking at power management Marc, please consider this also, considerbly cheaper than motec, and good for the Citroen WR team.

Going back a page, the digital dash on the steering column would definately look racey, but I personally think it would look better having it in the dash recess if you are retaining the dash.

(I'm sure all the rallycross Fiestas have the digital dash in the normal recess as well?)

Hi

If you are wanting to go down the GEMS route (and it is a great route to go down) I would personally recommend Race Dyno Tuning in Doncaster. Will is a wizard with the GEMS software!

Bored not doing much on the car of late, due to paying the engine build bill and waiting for that to be dyno'd so thought id get some of these to keep me occupied for a few hours today

So thought this would be a good place to start

Few holes drilled in the cover, rivets fitted and made the bobbins hole id larger to suit the m6 dome head bolts and jobs done

It's normally the little things that let cars down and as this build has cost so much money, i normally have a lot of time between build stages to think things over etc and spot the little things that i want to change.
