Your panels are already bonded on and fitted nice though aren't they Rob?

The problem with mine is the rear quarters need bonding and joining on and that's where the grief is in getting good panel gaps and getting it to look nice as there are holes etc where the kevlar panel edges aren't finished perfectly.

I have never expected it to be as nice as a car using original pressed metal panels so whatever Gaz can do with it is good enough for me.

Looking utterly brilliant.
glad you didnt put that vent on the wrong side,it only looks good on the passenger side (obviously because of the shape).
my air filter sits right under mine so its ok but useless to you I guess.

Spoke to Malcom at Dewitts today Mark and the wheel stud sleeves they supply are NOT threaded!

Tey are 28.5mm long and 17.9mm outside diameter

I have also had 1 or Rob's (c20trb) sleeves sent to me to look at and that 1 is not threaded either!

Are you sure yours are threaded?

How long are your studs and sleeves Mark overall length?

Thanks
Marc

My studs are 80mm long iirc , and the sleeves are 30mm long, and yes they defo screw on.
You do have to watch Dewitts at times, I ordered two lower TCA pins, Ł8 each iirc, they arrived and where 2 x M24 bolts that had been ground down - very naughty.

Think i will make my own and thread them then

Do the bells go over the sleeves and flat against the hub face so it is essentially sitting on the 4 sleeves or behind the sleeve with the sleeve up against it Mark?

Thanks

Your sleeves are not M14 x 1.5 rob

I'm in the garage now and have checked it, must be imperial like Marks,

I have made up a new sleeve quickly to try but because I might need to keep my 30mm spacers it gets more involved for me lol

I really do not see what the point of this pm was fella! But if that is the only kind of comments you have about the car/project then I would appreciate it if you keep your opinions to yourself please

Andrew done a lot of work on the car, it is not your average cosworth 4x4 conversion, alot of parts were included in the price above,

2 10 bar fuel pumps
Custon Fuel tank and straps
Vibra technics gearbox and engine mounts
Prop supplied shortened and balanced
New pro alloy rad and cooler
Group a uprights
Grp a bearing adapters
4 eccentric alloy top mounts

That's just some of the parts supplied,

I was also paying for Andrews experience of how these things should be built, with correct driveshaft angle, tca angles etc, he has a wealth of experience in building race winning cars,

And Andrews price was a he'll of slot cheaper than anyone else I got a quote from, and after all is said and done I am more than happy with the results, the service and what I paid for what I got.

As for fitting the kit, well yes that is gonna be some hard work as far is Gaz is concerned but I am confident that it us in capable hands as you say, but I was already aware these Motorsport panels/kits are far from perfect and I am happy with that and know that Gaz will get it as good as it can be

The work you have done on beefy's car looks great and I can see why beefy is so chuffed with the outcome so far

But at the end of the day I would not dream of pm'ing you or him or anyone else just to tell them someone's else work was shit and overpriced etc it's just fucking rude mate!

Regarding Spesh k, is it not the fact that Beefs and Marcs cars are built in 2 different ways? ie beefs is to look factory and pretty and a hell of a lot of man hours have been put in to make it look as good as it does.

AG doesnt work like that, the hours charged would be doubled if it was meant to be all pretty and factory, more right and purpose build is Marc's like my own which is also at AG.

jesus all you need to do is look at andrews focus & other cars he has built to see he knows his stuff ! its hardly andrews fault the panels arent the best ! beefys car & marks are 2 totally different annimals ! beefys is proper mint & imho too good to use , yes i think its that good it needs built & showed marks car will be a proper tool when done & it was built no different than andrews focus & to me what you say spesh is a dig & look what that focus has acheived & is still doing so When you have built a car that has done as well in every way as that focus & the others he has then you can bring him down , your right mark its downright rude ! i mean what has spesh built apart from beefy's car ? a red rs turbo ? Im proper dissapointed reading that i thought spesh was one of the BETTER ppl in the ford community i dont think you have done yourself any favours at all

I have that pic Aly, wondered if you had any more close ups of it in grey but that gives me the general idea,

Updates as far as parts go,

i have spoke to Mark at mk motorsport and he is hoping to have the parts i ordered with me this week which was as folows,

2 new billet uprights
2 new grp a type larger bearing with radius machined onto race
2 front steering arms for gravel uprights with all bolts and hardware

I sent Mark my tca and comp strut that Andrew at AG Motorsport made for me just to check it will all be ok with the gravel upright as it was made for standard but essentially a copy of grpa/wrc items and Mark has confirmed it will be fine.

I also sent Mark one of my rear steering arms, Andrew made these more to suit the 18" wheel so they are as big as you can fit inside the wheel without it touching, now they do the job but look very industrial, the problem i have is if i want to run the standard wrc rear steering arms my real link bars will not fit as they won't be long enough due to the more inward angle for the smaller arm so i have asked Mark if he can do me some wrc rear arms but re make them with stronger longer pins for the rose joints to keep the link bar angles wider just like the ones AG done for me, this will give me more clearance inside the rear wheels and look a lot better as well, he said it should not be a problem but just waiting for him to get back to me. pic's later this week hopefully of that stuff

I have sold my Piper Cams vernier pully's, i was not happy with the fact they only use 3 bolts to secure once timed up and i have seen quite a few cases of pully's slipping over the years so to be on the safe side i have ordered a set of Quaife Peg drive vernier pully's in alloy as pictured below,
They should of been here by now but are not so this site pic will have to do

Name: QEPCA.png
Views: 564
Size: 47.7 KB

No chance of them slipping with this due to the peg design, ok they are not as pretty but this is function over form.

Also all my power steering fittings and hose come through from the states, even though people have and do still use it i was not happy risking using the normal Aeroquip hose and fittings as they are not rated nearly high enough for power steering use so i ordered all the steel -6 fittings and 15ft of power steering hose as my pump is electric and is inside the car so i need a lot more of it, also i will also be running a small 7 row cooler.

Here is a pic of some of the fittings and 1 of the hose i made up to go from pump to bulkhead fitting

Name: IMG_1432.jpg
Views: 672
Size: 198.5 KB

I plumbed the steering rack to the saxo electric pump and hooked it up to my car battery and filled it with fluid to check for leaks as i wasn't sure if my fittings had an exact 37degree angle on the seat as it was done by eye on my mini lathe, the good news is they did not leak and the pump was perfect after i stripped and rebuilt it

As far as Bodywork updates

I had a txt from Gaz who is painting and fitting the kit on the car yesterday to give me an update on where we are at,

He sourced a couple of different flexible fillers and types of bonding agents so he could do a couple of test panels and see what one gave the most flexability as my rear quarter panels could be an issue as far as cracking is concerned if something non flexible is used as the quarters join around the door shut and boot shut, which is gonna get slammed shut god knows how many times in the future, also as said before this is a track and race car if im lucky enough to afford to go down that route in the future so will get no end of abuse.

Gaz has done the test panels yesterday and will decide which is the better to use today and let me know the results, hopefully it will avoid the above problems, but he reckons were gonna be ok so fingers crossed and only time will tell i spose and if the worst happens and it starts to crack i will deal with it then and know that it is nothing to do with Gaz's work.

He is hopefully spending most of this week on the car and is aiming to have all panels lined up, rear quarters bonded on and blended in where needed, all the reapirs and dents sorted and into primer for the weekend so it can be left a while for it to settle down before paint.

The man works fast so will keep you guys updated

The problem i have now is i have to tell Gaz the final decision on color by mid week and i have not 100% decided yet

The worst thing ever is choosing a color on a car like this as it's hard to get the same effect off of a different shape car using the same color as all angles reflect differently.

I posted these pics previously of a mk1 escort in
VAUXHALL MOONLAND METALLIC

Then yesterday i went to the local BMW and AUDI dealerships to get a few more grey options that i am thinking of using.

This is the BMW SILVER GREY as used on the new 7 series

This is the BMW SPACE GREY as used on the new 3 series, it is slightly darker than the above

Then for the AUDI color, can't remember the name but have it written down somewhere

What's your opinions please?

Thanks
Marc
