I went and spent a couple of hours in the garage earlier so decided to pull a few bits off the gearbox,
I wanted to see if the chain i had was good to use or stretched, and it seemed pretty loose so i would say it needs replacing.
I also removed the center VC as you can have these pumped back up and it's meant to make a world of difference over an old un touched unit, just need to see who can do this cheaply and wheres the best place to get a chain after deciding if im gonna use 3.6 or 3.9 ratio's

Mine was not quite that loose but not as tight as the new 1 so will replace if i can get 1 at a good price later in the build when the box is fully rebuilt

The shell will be in primer beginning of next week i think mate, then left for a while for everything to fully cure off and settle before paint,
Gaz is gonna paint inside and underneath, let that go off then paint the outside
Can't wait

Coming on really well this. I must say, I don't know if I would have gone for such nice paint on a car that is destined for a life of abuse. I would have gone for something simple and easy to match in if (when!) it needed touch ups, but fair play, it should look ace when it's done!
I'd be interested to know what materials Gaz has used though, to bond on the panels and for filling gaps/joins etc, if you could find out Marc?

As far as the build goes the paint is a cheap thing lol

Here is the latest from Gaz
Passenger side quarter ready for a rub down
All rubbed down
Repair to pillar ready to be rubbed down from when i dropped the car on it's side off the spit
Passenger side all lined up (a lot better than i expected so well chuffed)
Boot pins fitted and tailgate aligned
Drivers door repairs rubbed down
Drivers rear quarter with its first rub down
It is all coming together spot on so big big thanks to Gaz for a top job so far
He is doing a bit over the weekend as well i believe as he wants all repairs etc done and finished so Monday/Tuesday it is ready to be put in primer

These for me are the best pics to look at, you start to see the whole thing coming together and looking more and more complete.
Gaz looks like he's doing a real good job on it all, can't wait to see the painted car ( i'm sure you cant either LOL )

Thanks for the comments guys, will be done in no time i agree, Gaz works fast
Yes mate, side moldings are staying as they look pretty good color coded and it's more work to fill the holes, the rear quarter moldings will not be going on though as they are too long as standard to fit as the rear arches are too big for them, front ones on there own look ok though

Bit more done over the weekend by Gaz as he wants it ready for primer asap, so bar a complete rub down all over and a final check it's ready for that now
Drivers quarter skimmed over & smoothed off
roof repair rubbed down
Small repair to rear bumper section that had broken off
Drivers side wing/bonnet gaps done
And finally after buying about 5 different front grills i got the correct 1 to fit the gap, a zetec-s/st grill

New grill
May just have to remove the side clips so it looks a bit neater but it fills the gap so the rest is easy

Gaz has worked over the weekend and flat out on it all day so he could get it in primer today, and he managed to do it
So to start with i opened up these photo's and had no idea what the hell this was about lol, but Gaz has enlightened me that it is for dent pulling, so you can use a slide hammer on the dent to get it out as much as poss so less filler can be used, ingenious
Then once all repairs to the body were done the entire car got a light key ready for primer
Doors getting primered
In the booth ready for it's make over
Then after all this time having its panels bolted and screwed in place and hanging out of line, generally looking pretty sorry for itself and a lot of effort from Gaz, the car is finally in 1 color for the 1st time

Yeah well chuffed so far
Should be primering the bumpers during the week, and then all primer work left for a week to fully cure etc before painting,
In the meantime he is gonna start on the inside and underneath, so will keep you updated
