HI, New around here, Hope you dont mind me commenting, Just a suggestion, but have you thought / Tried eco black. ? It's still quite new, It Is a plating process, designed to go under paint / powder coat, although i have stuff done in it and leave it. Pretty much has to be machined to remove it, so rust is not an issue. Ask your local platters about it.

Here's a link to my local Platter, a bit far for you, but it give's the proper name and explains a bit about it. Another place i know who do it are talking about having a tank big enough to dip car shells.

little update folks ,
plates been made for the shock mounts , k's got the shocks , going to fab them up tomorrow , going to get together the various hub / shaft sections ect to do a mock up on on side of the rear corners and hopefully borrow a wheel again to test mock build to set everything up on the car ,
should allow the final bits to be machined up , and rear shocks worked out![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
also new mains and bigs are here , so just need some main cap bolts , and will start on the bottom end assembly !!

Looking good now, been a while since i last looked on here....
It'll soon be the exciting stage when all the shiny new bits start going on the shell. I'm in the same boat as you, saving for respray then can get cracking rebuilding....

also , had a result today , won a compomotive mo alloy wheel on the bay today
its 18x9 - and 5x112 with a 225/35/18 tyre on it , not sure on the offset , but its ideal for my mocking up !!
also big big thanks to daz aka cragrat , who came up saturday completely rewired my garage and helped me board out the ceeling ,
so just got a bit more to do this week to the garage and then the shell should be bk at the weekend with a bit of luck

coliovers i got off the bay ,
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/update22-3-11006.jpg)
avo fronts , in need of a rebuild , drained the fluids out of them
if the heights i need measure up ill have k weld on the brackets and send them away for overhaul
k fabbed up some brackets
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/update22-3-11007.jpg)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/update22-3-11008.jpg)

![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/update22-3-11010.jpg)
the shocks are mounted at a 14 degree angle to suit the turrets , as if they had been mounted square to the hub theres now way they would have sat the wheel square ...
so then we popped round and pulled the car up for a mock fit up
and forgot to take any fucking pics of it in situ ( im a usless fucker sometimes )
did get two snaps of the shell ,as its the first time its seen sunlight lol

going to press on with car for the time being , almost cleared the last bit i owe out from getting the car to this point , then the plan is to paint it![Wink](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
till then theres things to be sorted , bits to powdercoat , paint , refurb

update - 27-3-2010 bottom end assembly ![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
evening all been a busy weekend but made a good leap on the car build
i think k had noticed ive been a bit up n down with the project of late , and with that a prompt call was made to me saying " get ya ass up , we building ya engine up "![Wink](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
so with that said , it was up and a bit of parts collecting later 99% of the bottom end assembly was plonked on k's lap
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011454.jpg)
freshly ground crank
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011455.jpg)
new piston rings
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011456.jpg)
along with gaskets , seals ,bearings . re bushed rods ect ect ect
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011457.jpg)
so with that sorted the block was degreased and cleaned ready to install the crankshaft
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011458.jpg)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011459.jpg)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011460.jpg)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011461.jpg)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011462.jpg)
big thanks to rs shaun for the main cap bolts![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011463.jpg)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011464.jpg)
crank was then torqued down
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011466.jpg)
rear seals installed
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011467.jpg)
brand new oil pump and and pic up / spray bar installed
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011468.jpg)
then i got on fitting the new rings to the pistons , big thanks to jimbo/scs for the valve cutouts![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011469.jpg)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011471.jpg)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011473.jpg)
all done
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011474.jpg)
now it was at this point around 7 pm last night that i noticed the circlips from one side of each piston were missing , " no worries i know where they are " revealed i didnt pmsl![Wall](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/wall.gif)
so , that stopped play on piston - rod - block installation ...
but .... still had things to be getting on with so the and plates , engine arms , aux pulley ect were cleaned and prepped for painting![Clap](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/9c-clap.gif)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011475.jpg)

![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011477.jpg)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011478.jpg)
so i made a brew whilst spesh laid down some 2k silver ( same as what head and sump are painted in )
. and whilst making a brew a distress call was answerd in the form of lawnsy , who said he had some spare circlips i could have , just cost me delivering 3 parmos
LIVING PROOF THAT PARMO POWER RULES !!!!
so garage was shut up and a run to see lawnsy around 9:30 pm got me some circlips
which brings us to this morning![](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/roi.gif)
walked into the garage to see some freslhy dried painted parts

![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011024.jpg)
note the -12 breather return already welded to sump
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011025.jpg)
at this point we had a dilemma , the sumps too nice to turn over the motor onto so ......
engine stand was fabbed
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011026.jpg)
k used his long range infra red laser welder ....................
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011027.jpg)
and whist that was being welded up , engine arms were temp fitted ( need some new bolts for them ) , oil press takeoff and power steering bracket put on
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011028.jpg)

then it was time to fit the long studs ,
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011040.jpg)
bit of a struggle at first tbh , as there seemed no real way to lock them down ,
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011041.jpg)
maybe a redesing for mark (mk ) poss retro machine an allen key socket into the tops , ( constructive comment )![Wink](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
in the end we flipped two of the nuts face to face and locked them off , bit fiddly but got there in the end

![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011043.jpg)
with that all done and the alternator bracket fitted , the motor was bunged in the car for a trip home to mine

![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011047.jpg)

![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
evening all been a busy weekend but made a good leap on the car build
i think k had noticed ive been a bit up n down with the project of late , and with that a prompt call was made to me saying " get ya ass up , we building ya engine up "
![Wink](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
so with that said , it was up and a bit of parts collecting later 99% of the bottom end assembly was plonked on k's lap
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011454.jpg)
freshly ground crank
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011455.jpg)
new piston rings
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011456.jpg)
along with gaskets , seals ,bearings . re bushed rods ect ect ect
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011457.jpg)
so with that sorted the block was degreased and cleaned ready to install the crankshaft
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011458.jpg)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011459.jpg)

![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011462.jpg)

![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011463.jpg)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011464.jpg)
crank was then torqued down
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011466.jpg)
rear seals installed
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011467.jpg)
brand new oil pump and and pic up / spray bar installed
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011468.jpg)
then i got on fitting the new rings to the pistons , big thanks to jimbo/scs for the valve cutouts
![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011469.jpg)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011471.jpg)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011473.jpg)
all done
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011474.jpg)
now it was at this point around 7 pm last night that i noticed the circlips from one side of each piston were missing , " no worries i know where they are " revealed i didnt pmsl
![Wall](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/wall.gif)
so , that stopped play on piston - rod - block installation ...
but .... still had things to be getting on with so the and plates , engine arms , aux pulley ect were cleaned and prepped for painting
![Clap](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/9c-clap.gif)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011475.jpg)

![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/26032011478.jpg)
so i made a brew whilst spesh laid down some 2k silver ( same as what head and sump are painted in )
. and whilst making a brew a distress call was answerd in the form of lawnsy , who said he had some spare circlips i could have , just cost me delivering 3 parmos
![Clap](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/9c-clap.gif)
LIVING PROOF THAT PARMO POWER RULES !!!!
so garage was shut up and a run to see lawnsy around 9:30 pm got me some circlips
which brings us to this morning
![](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/roi.gif)
walked into the garage to see some freslhy dried painted parts

![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011010.jpg)

![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011024.jpg)
note the -12 breather return already welded to sump
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011025.jpg)
at this point we had a dilemma , the sumps too nice to turn over the motor onto so ......
engine stand was fabbed
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011026.jpg)
k used his long range infra red laser welder ....................
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011027.jpg)
and whist that was being welded up , engine arms were temp fitted ( need some new bolts for them ) , oil press takeoff and power steering bracket put on
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011028.jpg)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011029.jpg)
![](http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv218/beefcos/enginebuild27-3-2011030.jpg)
and with that the engine was turned ova
![ban-split](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/ban-split.gif)
