HI, New around here, Hope you dont mind me commenting, Just a suggestion, but have you thought / Tried eco black. ? It's still quite new, It Is a plating process, designed to go under paint / powder coat, although i have stuff done in it and leave it. Pretty much has to be machined to remove it, so rust is not an issue. Ask your local platters about it.

Here's a link to my local Platter, a bit far for you, but it give's the proper name and explains a bit about it. Another place i know who do it are talking about having a tank big enough to dip car shells. Be excellent if they do.

little update folks ,

plates been made for the shock mounts , k's got the shocks , going to fab them up tomorrow , going to get together the various hub / shaft sections ect to do a mock up on on side of the rear corners and hopefully borrow a wheel again to test mock build to set everything up on the car ,

should allow the final bits to be machined up , and rear shocks worked out

also new mains and bigs are here , so just need some main cap bolts , and will start on the bottom end assembly !!

Looking good now, been a while since i last looked on here....

It'll soon be the exciting stage when all the shiny new bits start going on the shell. I'm in the same boat as you, saving for respray then can get cracking rebuilding....

aye fella, working all the hours i can get at the moment , hopeing for overtime with the long nights coming in ,

but . works commenced on sorting out the rear end setup , and getting it dailled in so the hub pack cam be made by mark

also , had a result today , won a compomotive mo alloy wheel on the bay today

its 18x9 - and 5x112 with a 225/35/18 tyre on it , not sure on the offset , but its ideal for my mocking up !!

also big big thanks to daz aka cragrat , who came up saturday completely rewired my garage and helped me board out the ceeling ,

so just got a bit more to do this week to the garage and then the shell should be bk at the weekend with a bit of luck

yeah dave ,

its been itching away at me for a year or so now

but basically my dad owned i kawasaki gpz 750 a2 motorcycle , had it since i was around 9-10 yr old , was the first thing i ever went 100mph on and got me hooked on all things fast , took me everywhere on it , then it needed some repairs and got stuck in the garage and he bought a new bike ,

anyway its been in the family go knows how long and for the past 4-5 year its been sat rotting away in his garden and obv when he passed away just over a year ago i vowed i would put it bk to like new ,

and with the onsett of my future child ect its really had me thinking about it and wanting it to stay in the family,be passed down ect ......

only small issue i have atm is my bitch of an ex stepmother isnt planning on giving me it to spite me and my brothers .......so a plan is in action to steal it back whilst at the same time re register it in my name !!!

soo should be all sorted in a cpl weeks with a bit of luck ,

may have doubts bout the escort from time to time but that my friend will never be sold !!!!

ok folks a mini update for yall

coliovers i got off the bay ,

avo fronts , in need of a rebuild , drained the fluids out of them

if the heights i need measure up ill have k weld on the brackets and send them away for overhaul

k fabbed up some brackets

and fitted to the hub

the shocks are mounted at a 14 degree angle to suit the turrets , as if they had been mounted square to the hub theres now way they would have sat the wheel square ...

so then we popped round and pulled the car up for a mock fit up

and forgot to take any fucking pics of it in situ ( im a usless fucker sometimes )

did get two snaps of the shell ,as its the first time its seen sunlight lol

and thats coverd in dust and aint been polished yet !

more to follow when the shell gets home , got to get some bits together and then pop to the engineers

update - 27-3-2010 bottom end assembly

evening all been a busy weekend but made a good leap on the car build

i think k had noticed ive been a bit up n down with the project of late , and with that a prompt call was made to me saying " get ya ass up , we building ya engine up "

so with that said , it was up and a bit of parts collecting later 99% of the bottom end assembly was plonked on k's lap

freshly ground crank

new piston rings

along with gaskets , seals ,bearings . re bushed rods ect ect ect

so with that sorted the block was degreased and cleaned ready to install the crankshaft

big thanks to rs shaun for the main cap bolts

crank was then torqued down

rear seals installed

brand new oil pump and and pic up / spray bar installed

then i got on fitting the new rings to the pistons , big thanks to jimbo/scs for the valve cutouts

all done

now it was at this point around 7 pm last night that i noticed the circlips from one side of each piston were missing , " no worries i know where they are " revealed i didnt pmsl

so , that stopped play on piston - rod - block installation ...

but .... still had things to be getting on with so the and plates , engine arms , aux pulley ect were cleaned and prepped for painting

so i made a brew whilst spesh laid down some 2k silver ( same as what head and sump are painted in )

. and whilst making a brew a distress call was answerd in the form of lawnsy , who said he had some spare circlips i could have , just cost me delivering 3 parmos

LIVING PROOF THAT PARMO POWER RULES !!!!

so garage was shut up and a run to see lawnsy around 9:30 pm got me some circlips

which brings us to this morning

walked into the garage to see some freslhy dried painted parts

and time to fit the pistons to rods

a liberal smear of graphogen paste

k was fitting up end plate and aux pulley

breather holes been tapped out for a aeroquip fitting

block was stood on end and pistons fitted

eye spy

arp pro 2000 rod bolts

rods the torqued

cometic gaskets thruout

water pump installed ( also been tapped for aero fitting )

then it was time for the big wing sump

note the -12 breather return already welded to sump

at this point we had a dilemma , the sumps too nice to turn over the motor onto so ......

engine stand was fabbed

k used his long range infra red laser welder ....................

and whist that was being welded up , engine arms were temp fitted ( need some new bolts for them ) , oil press takeoff and power steering bracket put on

and with that the engine was turned ova

nearly there .....

" 200" is the magic number

then it was time to fit the long studs ,

bit of a struggle at first tbh , as there seemed no real way to lock them down ,

maybe a redesing for mark (mk ) poss retro machine an allen key socket into the tops , ( constructive comment )

in the end we flipped two of the nuts face to face and locked them off , bit fiddly but got there in the end

pics

with that all done and the alternator bracket fitted , the motor was bunged in the car for a trip home to mine

rear engined clio maybe ??

have to saw a huge huge HUGEEEEEEEEEEEE thanks to my main man k for all his effort and help , engine looks fucking stunning !!!

also a big big thanks to MATT LEWIS MOTORSPORT for supplying all the rebuild parts , all top notch

seriously woulndt use anyone else for my bits

beef & k .
