anyone would think you've been doing all the work

the hours you've all been putting in do show though, it's a wake up call to those who think that' bodywork is a 5 minute thing and people who do this sort of thing charge way too much

3-11-2011 !!!!

ok folks a bit of an overdue update , really cant say enough to k for plugging on in my absence true mate and hes been busy lol !

managed to pop over today to collect me camera and get some sympathy from k in which he said

" your nowt but a fucking big pansy !!"

yeah get well soon beef pmsl

anyway , to the update

following the sealer debate from last update , few changes ,

the turrets will stay as is as on closer inspection theres still plenty of sealer in where it counts , just cleaned off the excess

i and k are confident there shouldnt be water ingress

the top rings have been redone

from this

to this

weve fed some sealer into the joint , to help fill it out and give a smoother look ,

now we offerd up the heater matrix inside the car and as we went the mk 3 rear of the bulkhead route there was an half inch gap to where the seal of the matrix is ,

so k made up a little hood / seal

yeah its not perfect and there will be folk who say " ohh thats why i used the full bulkhead" , but hindsights a great thing and its something i can live with behind the dash ,

karls also remade the mk 3 oe scuttle brace to retrofit bk in ,

going to have to sit higher on the bulkhead

how it was

and how it is now

it was then oxided and primered on the rear side before being welded bk in

and the bain of karls life lol the rear of the bulkheads done !!!!!!!!

and its been a long time coming but the full bays in primer !!!

now we had the debate of what to do regards the battery tray , as its allways been of two minds , do i put it in the bay as factory , or sling it in the boot and use the room for a breather or sumthing ??

obv once its fitted you dont have the choice ,

unless k fits it lol , and makes it boltable !!!!

mounted on three tubes , two bosses welded on the underside of the bulkhead then it blots down thru the tray and tubes , and the third is the long tube thats threaded and a bolted thru the inner wing ,

and in primer

so i have two options fit battery as is , or mount in boot and simply use the two m8 holes in blukhead to mount something else , and a rubber grommit in the inner arch and the best bit , cos it floats , it will never rot again lol !!!

and some more pics of the primerd bay i too today on my flying visit !

really really cant say how chuffed i am with the outcome , !!!

the bays flawless and k still to fuller primer it ,

ive said it before and ill say it again , considering karls no formal training in bodywork the quality is imo some of the best ive ever seen , the fact hes spent days making sure its perfect really show in the outcome !!!!

cant wait till its painted lol !!!!

so happy new year folks , cant wait to get bk in garage now

karl n beef !!!!

Yeah bwoy!!!

Liking teh battery tray as is matey, i think it will look neater in the engine bay. Much more OEM and saves dicking about running cables through the car. Its not in the way up there so i'd leave it.

Turrets look much neater with a wipe of sealer in the cavity.

Great work Karl
