Buy the ford motor - keep it ford!!!

Easier to rebuild and can handle more power when you want - just look at all the koenigseggggggggggg. Alloy block ls motors - score a bore/spin a bearing? Badnews! New block - ok if in Aus or Us where they are EVERYWHERE but in UK?? Not sure.

c what your saying lincoln

but to fit that cobra motor would mean loosing 2 inches out of the bulkhead

frankly i aint prepared to do that ,

i know the ls will fit with no mods to engien bay needed ,

and for now 400 hp and 400 ftlb is more than enough considering what i want the car to do

rember this is my road toy , not out n out racer

Hi beefy ,just a couply of questions, is the ls cast or alloy block,i know the cobra block is wide but is the ls block shorter ? have you got measure ments for ls ,because i have 2 cobra engines one built and one in bits so could give you any sizes you need if this helps, tim

have the measurements for the ls engine tim ,

the ls series engines are all alloy , steel crank , titanium rods , all heads,

right now folks my heads up my arse , karl and a few other peeps reckon its needs a yb,

or its not really an rs without one , me , i could go either way , and the missus just wants me to pic lol ,

im soooooooooooooo undecided right now , im certain the ls will fit , but will it require any moddin ??

and untill i get it i wont know , where as obviously the yb is fit n forget ???

arrrrrrrrghhhhhh , either way the cranks off for a polish today and the rods are having there new little ends fitted ,

ohh and me and the wench are moving into our new place mid september, and i get my own tinkering room lol !!!

so plan is to just start refurbing all the bit n bobs , then have them all there for a day of engine building

beef

ill take opinions on yb or ls please lol

hi mate the only ls engine with titianium rods is the ls7 dry sump etc but are Ł8500 plus loom ecu starter etc but are 500 bhp ,you will defo have to mod shell to get engine and box in ,if you want to put in the right place ,
if you wanted big horse power and were twin turboing it then yes ,but for 400 bhp i would save hassle and expense and stick yb beefy

If you go v8 are you going rwd or 4wd?
Id go yb but there is some thing kinda original about a big fat v8 shoe horned in there

The shock value would be great when you opened up the bonnet

Mate, stop bitching and bang the LS in. No one has done it (to my knowledge) and a mk3 400brake v8 scort will kick the living shit out of a 400 brake YB'd escort. Instant power, no lag. Have you driven a decent v8 motor mate? If you haven't i suggest you do.

Don't get me wrong i fecking love yb's etc but just think for the money the LS range is the way to go for a bastard fast, horribly reliable and individual motor.

Rob,

Nice, but nowt wrong with buying cars already converted and making them better

That diff cover is awsome, any reason why though, is mojority of the build having custom bits by MK?

My opinion, if a V8 then a Ford one but that doesnt suit to that car.

A YB is the better choice, imo.

love you work so far, dont take this the wrong way but i wouldnt put a v8 in it, just wouldnt look right in there, if there was two S1's at a show one with a v8 an other YB, the v8 wouldnt would make me go wow, but the YB one in the other hand id be glue to it, sorry just my view on it
