nice and simple, strip the hubs, wheels, brakes from it and bin the rest, at least you've got it on wheels and able to stop while you decide what to do with the rest of it

The 4x4 5stud flange can be bought from ford Ł140 each I think. Don't think the 2wd ones are listed any more. Also Granadas have a bigger front bearing too.

ok folks todays lil update ,

basically i havent touched the sehell in nearly a week , had a few other things on me mind , so decided a week of was best ..

but got down the unit today , and between lending a hand on other things and the worlds longest pain in the arse hunt for a sheet of 18 gauge steel ,

we got a start on the floor ,

so the floor was wheeled in and dried off ,

then the centerline was marked out ,

ok so its at this point where we decided , should i say karl decided we should box the rear section of the floor ,

reason being is that we plan to fold the excess metal in the width (50mm) each side downwards so it can be spotwelded in like a original floorpan thus being as strong as poss , with not only minimal welding but a cleaner " factory look " to the overall floor

so out came the sections

and boxxed in , as you can see weve kept the width in the floor , wich will allow us to fold the floor down ,

not a big update , but more to be done this week

so its trying to find a balance were im not perstering but making progress ,

and espically when these areas are critical to the finished product , id rather it take twice as long thna butcher it ,

ok folks , bear with me , as this is a fooking huuggeee update in the project lol ,
with the floor of the sierra starting to take shape i thought more work was needed to get it closer to actually fitting it " in the hole "
so i unpicked the top half of the sierra bulkhead to ease the trial fitting of the floorpan ,

this has been unpicked at the welds so should make it a little eaiser when it comes to refitting ,
then cleaned up the factory sealer with the " mbx " wire brush thingymybob

doesnt damage the metal but destroys sealer lol

then i removed the factory sound deadening

it was at this point karl stepped in , to continue from the previous update with boxxing up the floor sides to allow them to be folded to with ,

area was cut out and the triangular section moved down the sill

infill section folded and tacked in ,

at this point , gud mate " nick the greek " arrived , to annoy us with his usual whitty banter lol

karl then started on the other side

obvioulsy the chassis/seat brace was now too deep to fit ,
quick bit of cutting

floor starting to come together

it was at this point with the sides coming together , we needed to work our overall withs out to get our fold lines ,
basically thi idea is to fold the excess with of the sierra floor downover thus allowing a lip that we can spotweld to the mk 3 inner sill , just like a factory floorpan , this takes away the need for masses of untidy welding , and adding of sections of angle ect to strengthen the joint , its clean ,neat and as strong as when ford made it !!!!!
so with already having the centerline of the floor made out , a plumbline was dropped from the rear to give us a vertical centerline we could measure out from , once we had that figured we marked a square line on the box section below , used a clamp to secure it square to the centerline of the car and well we could measure out and down to the floor using a combination of set squares and rulers ,
pics

we could then transfer a straight line point to point ,

we then added 15 mm for our fold , this will be the return lip
excess was then cut away

leaving us with a completley square floorpan section ,
then we decided to offer the shell over the floor , for shits n giggles

action jackson immediatly saw where the excess meatl in the mk 3 bay was ,
and got to it !

me and karl got our "pose on "

as did gary , dosent say much but hes a diamond, and stayed with us all eve to nod his approval ,

jacko finshed chopping

not much left in here

nearly there ???

as you can see the inner sill in relation to the "fold line " , there fucking bob on , who said us northerners were monkeys lol !!!!
the car basically got left like that as we left the unit at 1 am , and then bright n eairly at 9 this morning (friday ) we got bk in ,
with karl busying away on a customer car , jack lent a hand for ten min with bashing flat the inner wing punch holes as i plan to have the bay smoothed ,

after cleaning up all the holes on one side off the bay , karl found he could lend a hand so we prepped the floor ready to fold it

1 side done

and the other

then with the floor being offerd up and measured the lines were marked to trim the sierras inner wings

me working hard !

then clive aka Righthooker on here popped in to call me names ect

with the floorpan all trimmed up , the mk 3 was then offerd back up "again "pmsl

and .........................................
it fit like a fucking glove !!!!!

few other pics,

karl and anth

with the floor fitting really well, it was removed again lol , to be welded up , cleaned prepped ect ect ect

sound deadening pads removed ,but residue of the glue

one top side welded

cleaned

and thats how we left it tonight folks , tomorrow will see the rest of the welding done , sealer remoeved and all the floor cleaned ,
hope you enjoy cos im fucked
,big big big thanks to karl and jacko for all there help , couldnt ask for two better mates !!!
