very jealous of the front end on that mk2 Gary!

in practice, how much more room do you gain for the front wheels from that?

We're using different uprights of a Sierra , Capri Billies are getting hard to find , and the sierra allows the wheel to pivot much more central having the KPI closer to the wheels centerline when going up in width, so we havnt go as much forward and back motion of the wheel, you know how close it gets to an escorts footwell and front panel on a standard Capri legs.. well this set up means it dosnt do that.

Plus your shell was mint compared to that mk2, it had been cut about and patched so much over the years that it really was an un-economical repair what with an escort front end costing 2.5k in panels alone its worked out cheaper doing this ..

The Mk1 though is staying with the escort/capri legs, and will have a tube front end as its for a road car not racecar.

depending on who built your car, you will probaly max out with a 9" rim on there, so i would say use an 8,5" tyre on a 9" rim for the road, I dont go by the numbers on the tyres on road tyres as they are not accurate as the sidewall tread is included in the measurement, You'll have to take a rule with you when you buy. As tyre widths vary with manufacturer.

For your 15's and again depending on whose built the car, you'll have to run a low profile on something like a 185 to 205 width if you want to lower the car.

The car should fit the wheels, not the wheels fit the car, as the wheels hub height dictates the suspension pick up points.

and the prime cage is in (prime= the basic 6 point + rear diagonal), the rest of the bars (15 separate bars inside) will be going in along with the front end, but i need to finish up the Mk2 racecar first.

The other 15 bars are mainly diagonals and front triangulation to the top mounts.

Some pics of the front spaceframe .. due to the cost of Mk1 front panels being around Ł2,500 from the screen to the front panel .. and thats just for the panels without fitting costs, we decided to do a spaceframe front end, also the cars modified at the rear so may as well do something up front too

The main hoops are 38mm CDS and the parts join back into the main cage are 42mm CDS, the top mounts are my own camber adjustable one that i normally let into standard inner wings.
