As its a toyota, I think the natural choice is that you go for a 1UZ lump for it.
Then once you have worked out the most cost effective way to get good power from it, let me copy it for my 1UZ, as I dont want to do any hardwork

There is only one cost effective engine to use, and it sure as hell isnt a 1UZ.

My car being a Toyota wouldnt make any difference

Makes sence as it already in the car. Alot less 'down time' so more seat time.

Not even that mate, either engine is likely to come out, its jus other things.

Had plenty of thoughts about what to do. You know that GIANT turbo I have? I can actually use that you know...

Serious ALS, twincharge, compound charge (either compressor side or both), even nob the turbo off and run a massive Keene Bell instead, or maybe even something along these lines...

TBH what ive shown above is utterly useless for Cossie engines, as they surge like a cunt if you try and bring a big turbo in fast, wheras the above thing originated with them simply blocking off half the turbine housing the whole time, and they still wasnt surging, just coming on boost twice as fast. But thats Windsors for you

Ok, maybe my turbo isnt a HX40 afterall Going by Garrett GT wheel sizes I presumed it was after measuring inducer size, but forgot how massivley more efficient Holsets are as by looks of this, mines actually a HX55, a 900bhp or so turbo

Clicky here, my turbo, but with the ID tag still on it, reading HX55...
http://bp3.blogger.com/_didKg1os2P4/...600-h/hx55.jpg

And my turbo for comparison...

Its baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack. Woo.

Big thanks to Greg (BigWig) for giving me a lift down there, and now, I have, a badass rollcage, thanks to Andy Robinson Racecars

And I also have a new rear bumper and under bumper trim bit after I smashed it up recently! Woooo, etc.

How the outside currently looks with Bons old bumper, and a new trim bit under the rear light...

But more importantly, how the inside now looks (ie badly needing paint and tidying!)

The front-

The back-

Lovely X door bars-

The rear section-

Front bit-

next job now is Rear strut brace-

Probably my fave bit, incase you needing reminding how badass it is-
Name: Resized_IMG_9280.jpg
Views: 57

More proof if you need it-

There also bar behind the dash too, but obv cant see that.

Quality is fricking fantastic, proper welds, and 360deg too, unlike most shonky rollcages ive seen.

Didnt expect it, but chassis must be SO much stiffer now as it feels like the suspensions twice as hard now, feel every lil bump in the road.

Even with the mental doorbars, getting in and out isnt too bad, as im used to mad cages anyhow.

Couldnt be more chuffed- Andy Robinson Race Cars - roll cages, complete chassis, fabrication, setup, race car engineering

Next job now is paint the cage and the intrior as a whole, and get the back bumper the right colour...

Looks very good quality, as with all I've seen from Andy Robinson. Used to read Street Machine and Custom Car religiously, he was bulding tube framed dragsters years ago.

What sort of price is a cage like that?

next job is a LOT of things.

id like to tidy the dash, as chopping it up for the cage has lost a lot of its strength, so the fit is now utter wank.

also the cars wiring it typical jap modding, fucking terrible.
tbh 90% of the cars wires are redundant, so id prefer to TOTALLY re-loom the whole car, but expect thats xpensive.

need to paint the entire inside of the car.

want to go plastic windows and gut the doors.

need to paint various outside bits of the car, inc the wheels, as at mo its got 1 white and 3 white with polished lip.

wanna get it looking decent then get the graphics done, as ive wanted to for about a fucking year now.

and most of all, need more power, 400 or so is boring to me.

I don't think you have the balls to put in the Windsor and handle the proper power(torque) it will kick out....... That's what's holding you back.

Well I hope that makes you do it now......... hahaha, I soooooooo want to see that.

I mean over here in NZ there are Chasers with RB engines, and this place is as backwards as fuck...... Get a V8 in it, I am thinking of throwing one in an old Sierra or 5 Series BMW, is that easy enough???? Who knows but man would be fun.

One thing thats holding me back is the stock 302W block will crack at the power I'd want.

Only other thing thats holding me back is money. Ie I dont have much.

Once S2000s sold I will though, and then good times.

What's the limit of the Windsor block then Steve?

I was just yanking your chain though, I don't know if I would rip out the RB26 to put in an old Ford engine........ hahaha, I just want to see it that's all.

They fairly reliable at 500@wheels at long as you keep the revs to about 5k, but even then its on borrowed time. Turbos make it last longer than nitrous or supercharged tho.
Aftermarket block and its more like 2000@wheels and whatever revs.
Can go more revs and more power, some push 600 and 6500rpm, but thats seriously making it not last long. Block is pretty weak.
I know you just messing, but I dont like the RB26, so I certainly do wanna do it.
I got an early 351block which will do 1000bhp with a half fill, so ill be using that, as not going as far as that, so it should last fine.

I have just recieved a CD of images that Andy Robinson Race Cars - roll cages, complete chassis, fabrication, setup, race car engineering took while they was installing it, and heres a couple of interesting ones...

This one shows the rear strut bar ill be putting the harnesses on I guess...

And most of all, these pics shows how bad the wiring is behind the dash, and how much crap is left there I dont need!
Still got a heater matrix! But there is no room for the heater hoses to go in the car, and there no blowers fitted either!
I reckon at least 50% of that wiring is totally redundant too.

I reckon its time to remove the dash, again!

If I was getting one for a car like a Saff, id just be buying an off the shelf one, WAY cheaper, and easy with a Saff as they been used in motorsport so much.

As mines a complete 1-off due to it being a rare car it rapes you for about 1500notes (well, a lil bit less, but hey). Fantastic quality though, which unfortunatly is more than you can say for most cages ive seen!

i see waht you are saying, but an off the shelf one will be a bolt in job which is no where as good as a weld in one.

That cage is lovely mate - proper welds, proper pick ups - just screams quality.

Cheers Will, it is the bollocks, I didnt want anything too mental as I dont need it, cant afford it, and it would be heavy.
But didnt want like a lot of cages, which look fancy with thousands of bars, but are badly done and pointless.
Robinsons are one of the best racecar builders in Europe, and what they done is a work of art, lovely job.
Shocked me how much stiffer it all is now, like said, feels like suspension is twice as hard now, certainly didnt feel like this when caged the Sierra!

Not much action will be happening with the car now until the S2000 is sold, just minor bits really, but then the money from thats getting massivley blown on the Chaser, mostly on the engine, but in all areas actually.

Trouble is I have 2 options to do, and cant decide for the life of me which route to take. Thankfully either option can be fully paid for with the S2K money, so it wont take too long really, esp as I wont be doing it.
Working out what to do is killing me tho, both have plusses and minusses and unknowns, too close to call, but needs doing, as car bores me at mo aside from drifting as its not powerful enough for me ("only" 400bhp ), and I do more than that.

And thats that really.

Makes me really wonder that does how you can get bored with 400bhp or it being not powerful enough

Fastest car I have ever been in had 290-300bhp Evo 6 and been in a fully stripped 180SX running about 260 odd bhp and for myself, that would be more than enough power.

Hell I drive around with 132 rampaging horses under my bonnet and I don't get bored...well sometimes I wish it would have some proper kick under there but I'd be WELL happy with 200bhp never mind 400bhp!

Again, out of interest, what cars are you used to driving Stavros? Trying to comprehend 400bhp being boring...!

I remember you talking about a dragster RX7 with mental bhp off the top of my head.
