You can't perspex a rear screen without having a proper acrylic one specially made (ie, motorsport). We only perspex side glasses, and even some of them we can't do (ones very curved in more than one direction, but mainly frameless doors - which is most things jap Skylines, Mazda's Subaru's, loads of Toyota's etc etc)

Shit luck Steve-o.. You not fully comp on it then? cos if you are you *should* have glass cover? Who's your insurance company?

Being an import isn't gonna do you any favours either Last Skyline we had in (R32 GTST) took 6 weeks to get a screen for ) Thats whay I was shitting it doing Rentons R32 screens - he wanted them taking out and putting back in with new trims - without breaking em I rang one of our suppliers to enquire should I need a new screen - 6-8weeks from Japan, and about Ł900 Hence why I spent 2.5hrs taking the fucking thing out

That dont matter, Autoglass are clowns, do it properly and you can get import screens from Japan within a week or so.

Anyhow, back to my car...

GOOD news. The car is now registered and ill be having a drive in a bit. YYD is the last 3 digits.

BAD NEWS

Just got off the phone with 2 toyota parts departments.

The rear screen? NONE available, discontinued and all stock gone.

And that was looking on the Jap system too, they not available new anywhere.

Time to find a used one in Japan.

Though if ANYONE sees a GX81 Chaser/Creasta/Mark2 in a scrappy or summat (GX81 are the shit slow models, but same basic bodyshell, and some of the easter european immagrents supposedly have driven to the UK in them, so some are on UK roads) please let me know, as that screen is the same!

hooly shit, fire work must have been aimed at the car, usually takes a god lob on a brick to break a screen,

really bad luck mate.

hope you get it sorted,
have you tried the lads at
www.japperformanceparts.com

got loads of bits from them for our jap wagons

Err no, no it wasnt.

There were about 5 of the same fireworks all around the street, back and front gardens, they fell from above.

Its got a thick/heavy plastic shell, would knock you out if it was thrown at you, never mind fell from 200feet on to thin glass.

Not arsed, made temp screen, been driving it every night anyhow.

All was good but then the mild missfire it had developed into a mega one, so bad it ran on 5cyls at idle!
Tried everything to fix it, nothing worked, narrowed it down to a post throttle leak on cyl6 (multi-throttle remember), which didnt seem likely, but only thing left.
I wasnt gonna do it, cant be arsed, so I sent it off to my mates garage in Devon...

Best bit of good news was when they took the cam covers off they found out it had HKS cams and vernier pulleys! No idea what spec, but it would explain why it seems rather fast for the supposed spec!

On the way home I was getting some odd gearbox oil smells in the car when caning it, and on closer inspection the gearstick boot was fucked!

Bodged it up with glue and card (seriously!) and its fine at mo.

Once it was home I got the new wheels on too...

Needed to cut away plenty of the front bumper and side skirts away to stop any rubbing, but apart from that it seemed fine with the hooj new rims

As well as caning it round the streets loads I took it to a drift day the other week, and the car performed miles and miles better than i ever thought it would with me behind the wheel so soon!

Car was fantastic, transitioned brilliant, was doing things I never expected id be able to so quickly, loved it.
Thread on it here thats worth reading...

The day shown me a few weeknesses in the car tho, which was good, as wouldve never found em on the road.
For a start the arches needed more work to stop rubbing under exreme use (ie sideways at fucking stupid speeds), as was rubbing a bit on the outside at the back, a bit on the outside at the front, and a LOT on the inside on the front.
Only in extreme circumstances tho, on the road, even when caned, it was fine even on full lock.

Also found what I already knew, RB engines make the oil VERY hot very quick.
Lack of frontal airflow in drifting and oil temps was getting to 110degC+ in no time. Good job I had an oil temp gauge or id have never known till the engine blew!
Water temps are fine tho.

Also my hydraulic handbrake needs to be re-bled, wasnt working to great on the day, but was just shift locking it to get it round the real tight corners. Works just as well, just tons harder, so gotta get the wand sorted.

Knocked both bumpers off at least once each, and the cars got a LOT less paint left than it had before, but thats what its for, to be used. Nothing gayer than fast cars all bufty and never used to the limit IMO!

Here is the car as it stands now, inc moody fake jap plates!
Name: IMG_7778.jpg

Name: IMG_7783.jpg
Views: 539

Tho in them pics its filthy, i washed it yesterday for 2nd time ever!

Oh, and notice I removed the bonnet raisers, as wether its an RS Turbo or Chaser drift car, they look SHIT!

Also hammered the shit out the inner arches at the front, and trimmed the outers RIGHT to the lip, but it wont be enough on the inside at least, but cant do any more, hammered it right back to the chassis rails now!
But i have plans for that...

Current plans are...

Re-bleed the hydraulic handbrake (a RIGHT pain to do well, but still)
Flare the rear arches some more.

Fit bigger front spacers to widen the track even more, hopefully then it will clear the chassis rail under extreme speed full lock use. (will adjust the camber more then too to keep the tyres under...)

Fit an oil cooler behind the front grille. Can be 19row, but also can be long as anything so gonna get a custom made one done.

Get some adjustable tie rods for the front to give it even more castor.

Get some uprated F+R anti roll bars.

As long as can get a good shipping price, will get an 8point bolt-in cage sent over from Japan.

Get either Hydra or Link G2 ECU.

Get 800cc inj and bigger fuel rail + lines.

Fit that lot along with all the Aeromotive fuel sys I got.

Fit the single Holset HX40/50 turbo, tubular manifold, external gate, etc etc i got.

Get heat wrap and a turbo blanket for the turbo/manifold/downpipe. Its not great for turbo life, esp if top speeding the car, but it certainly speeds up turbo response by a noticable amount, so its important to me.

Possibly get nitrous and use it as ALS when drifting.

And thats about it really. Unless something else breaks! Which it will!

The JZX100 Chaser dont look bad either.

Its all money, but any plans on some better oil cooling for it then after hitting 110+ ?

Ive been reluctant at mo to add stickers purely as the paint is all glittery and mental, so would be a shame to cover it up.

BUT its rapidly getting totally fucked, so soon it will need to be covering in stickers anyhow

His Chasers mint, but as its a 1997 its also about 14grand, but its about 450bhp etc etc etc so a right weapon.

And oil cooling is the main priority, massivley. Read the to do list, its on there!
Payday Friday so I can get on with it

Aye, in Japan all the birds have various stupid good luck charm things hanging from their phones, and I brought a couple back for a couple of birds I promised I get something for (and dont know each other, hence the same gift ), and I had that one still sitting in my drawer at home as forgot to give it her.
I remembered I had it still the other day, so slung it on the rear tow hook

Just to be "JDM-Tyte"

Its this...

Its actually ultra ultra super gay jap bummage as its from Harajuku, that place Gwen Stefani bums in all her songs (which actually is cool as fuck, love that place).

Bit of good news is ive found (after months of not thinking anyone made anything for em anymore) uprated F+R ARBs, and fully adjustable suspension arms.
Which is nice

Good thing about Chasers is they handle mint as they have proper multi-link suspension, not crappy Saff semi-trailing arm wank, hence how its easy for companies to make adjustable arms.

With the right oil I would not be worried till 135c+, But most of the Jap boys seem to love very cold oil.

TBH Mark it got to 120 so quick it was only a matter of time before it hit properly scary numbers, and seeing the problems my mate had last year with (seemingly) oil temps causing dead RBs (they seem to not like it worse than other engines?) I dont wanna take the risk! Even a second hand 26 is like 2.5k + VAT

Gay as fuck when the (IMO) equally as good 1JZ is about 350quid second hand And to make it worse thats what engine a Chaser SHOULD have in it as standard

You easy can get your wheels to sit like that mate, on any car. Just need the right width and offset, and not be afraid to roll/flare your arches.
Would look awesome on a Saff, 4door cars always look badass with proper fitting rims

The cars not THAT big TBH, its not much longer than my Mk2 Mondeo really, but as its very wide, and very low, and got a massive bonnet and boot, it looks very long. The only issue with that is the actual inside of them isnt very big at all! Good job mines stripped out as there not much room in the back anyhow

They feel quite light and nimble considering the size, but thats just due to the good suspension etc making them handle mint, infact they fucking heavy! About 1500kg standard Good job they got loads of power!

Well, its like anything isnt it, theory says one thing, reality says another, and the car you like the best is rarely the one that performs the best.

Its bigger and heavier than a Cossie for example, but handling wise would totally run rings around one.

And its like Cossies or anything really. They not the "ideal" track/drag car, but we sure as fuck get them performing well

Thats better, a non-warped bumper!

Its my mates old one as he got a BN Sports bodykit for his now.

This is what it looks like on the car...

Not quite the right colour tho, but I can get that sorted im sure...
Can you de-warp warped fibreglass bumpers BTW? Im sure I heard you can?
