Not looking forward to having to buy a rear bumper though!

Ill see if Toyota can get me the bit of trim under the rear lights, hopefully they can...

This, barring the front bumper, is the kit on my car...

Didnt damage the front bumper at all, suprisingly, but destroyed the rear bumper quite spectacularly, and just as annoyingly, took the little bit of trim between the drivers side rear light and the bumper with it

Car seemed to be missing a little too, fucking car! And gearbox is whining like a cunt!

Gonna have to order them bits from Japan, which is more than a bit gay.

Maybe this is the sign to fuck the RB right off and do the V8? Well, id fucking say its a sure fire sign!

Was awesome driving it tho, forgot how much attention it gets.

Is it legal to drive with no rear bumper? Still has number plate, etc etc, I got about 80 miles to do tomorrow if I want the cage...
my Rouse splitter did the same

Car is at Andy Robinson Racecars having a badass cage made.
Ordered the bit of metal from Toyota for below rear light.
Bought Bonbons old Kids Heart rear bumper from him earlier, so now I have a back bumper to use after my old one exploded.
Have 2x oil coolers and 2x oil pumps for gearbox and rear diff.
Have a big oil cooler for the engine.
Manifold is all finished modding and wrapped.

Soon as its back from cage ill finish sorting bodywork, go even madder on arches with the roller and a hammer to make more room for tyres, paint cage white, get the graphics done, fit the single turbo conversion, etc etc etc

And building the rest of the engine to take it isnt much.

But then you have 2 issues, transmission, and then getting the power to the tarmac.

It would need a proper Mustang rear end, semi-tubbed arches at least enough to get 285s under, ideally more, and so on.

And thats where itd get expensive.

Be immense though, 220 at Brunters easy idve thought!

Stav - just try and blag a PowerGlide box or something from a drag car...

Surely with your network of contacts you could pick one up for a half sensible price...

Whats Project GTS-T running transmission/clutch/rear end wise.

You could PROPERLY drift it though with that many ponies

an auto box to cope for a decent price isnt a big deal, tho still prob 4 figures all in, though no contacts i know will help get it cheaper. still got the diff issues tho, and more to the point, traction issues.

project gtsts transmission costs more than my whole car would.

but it would be properly shit to drift with an auto, nothing to do with the power

Right, jus took a few pics...

Car is still down Andy Robinson Racecars (www.robinson-race-cars.co.uk) having a cage made, so no driving or anything fun, but in the meantime I been sorting shit out.

I needed a big oil cooler as when drifting the oil temp was going thru the roof, and I was all set to spend 150quid I didnt have on some Mocal or Setrab effort when I found a fucking big and good nick oil cooler on an early 80s LWB Shogun down the local scrappy. 7quid later and it was mine.

My gearbox is about to die, and no doubt many more in the future will too, and as im poor, spending 400quid every month on a gearbox dont really appeal to me, so decided id give the transmission as much help as poss, with diff and gearbox oil coolers.
Needing a pump and cooler each, it looked like I was about to be raped to the tune of 500quid by ThinkAuto etc for that lot, but then I thought fuck it, S14 200SX's have it as standard, and paid 30quid a pop for 2 of them.
The coolers are decent enough nick, esp now I gave em a thin coat of satin black, but the pumps are still a bit rusty and crappy, so didnt take pics of them. But at 60quid all in, im happy, sure as fuck beats 500quid...

I smashed my bumpers up a while ago (not) street drifting, and recently repaired them, pretty nice job of it too.
The thing is, a few days later, while (not) racing a BMW at high speed the rear bumper kind of exploded in to small bits, so I needed another.

I am poor, so spending 500quid+ getting another from Japan was out the question, but luckily BonBon had his old Kids Heart one still, so I crossed his ginger hands with silver (well, 20pound notes) and I had a rear bumper again.

Thing is, Bons has a Chaser rear end, which has the number plate in the rear bumper, and mine is a Mark II rear end, which has the number plate between the rear lights, so there a fucking great hole in the rear bumper.
I was gonna just fanny about and fill it etc, but then i thought about it and realised its an ideal place to wang the transmission coolers.
Once fitted properly ill put them on top of each other and fill the gaps a little, but for these pics, i jus luzzed em in place.

Also I finished modding the manifold, with the correct flange for the wastegate, quick released the turbine flange, and fully heat wrapped the whole thing.
Its a complete CUNT to fully wrap it, and i mean FULLY, no metal showing, mostly due to it being very twisty and having 6 branches.
If/when the wrap dies, it can fuck off, im not doing that again

I planted a rubber tree at the bottom of my garden a while ago, and its starting to bear fruit, as you can see.
Its only bearing part worns at mo, but a good 30 odd 17s and 18s, so I cant complain.
Name: IMG_9214.jpg
Views: 101
Size: 101.6 KB

My rubber plant isnt good enough to grow slicks yet, but luckily some top people have given me some they had lying around.
Tony Ryan had a pair of 2008 235 wide 17in BTCC ones that were too fucked to sell, but still useable, so he gave me them to try out, which was nice

And last Friday my mate Rich kindly gave me 4x 235 wide 18inch Pirelli P Zero slicks he had spare too

Name: IMG_9217.jpg
Views: 109
Size: 64.0 KB

And thats about it really, hopefully very very shortly my car will be done at Robinsons, and I can get back to crashing, I mean driving, it...

Yup. Itd be even more interesting and functional of I had the money to do so.

The car scene is so unimaginative on the whole, and I cant afford to go along with the flow, so have to use my mind...

Marky, well yeah its not too bad, as rarely hit it clean on with the back, but ill make sure coolers are mounted to car rather than bumper, so when bumper get smashed off, coolers dont go with it!

Andy, youl need a rubber tree with the Cerbara mate!

Current conondrum is what to do exhaust wise. Its got a full 3in system at mo, and aside from being 107db static Its not gonna be big enough for the expected power, hell, the turbine outlet is 3.5in and downpipes are usually way bigger bore than the turbine outlet!

I cant afford some shithot system from Hayward and Scott or Primary Designs, so I got to budget ball it, and thats not easy either as 99.9% (unless anyone knows better?) of companies do 3in bore maximum silencers, so obv no good to me.

I got 3 options I can think of...

Jetex do pipes and boxes of 3.5in bore, so ideal, tho still not mega cheap as id guess id need 3 boxes to get the car under 100db limit most tracks have.

Get a 3.5in or 4in downpipe made, then get the system split in to twin 3in pipes, any decent exhaust place can do that then, but room for 4 decent sized silencers (ie 2 per side) might be hard, and will be heavier, and again, not cheap.

Fuck it ALL and run a 4in unsilenced pipe front to back, and seperate screamer, and head for the 120db static region

The third option is where my heart is, as its cheap, more "me" (ie mentally loud), more "the car" (ie fucking ridiculous), and is the easiest and simplest option, as well as sounding amazing. And still means I can do drift stuff no prob as no noise limits, and do the no noise limits track days at Donny.
As im poor I cant afford to track it every week anyhow, so a few days a year is all id do.

But that also means I cant ever use the car at Brunters or any other tracks. Not the end of the world to not do a lot of stuff, but real shame about Brunters, and Japfest and RS days at Coombe etc.

So not sure really, car would seem odd if it was quiet

Depends how badly you want to run on trackdays with noise regs I suppose.

When I get a chance I'll speak to someone in the drift scene I know of and see what he suggests as he has a few contacts.

What would someone "in the drift scene" be able to tell me?
Noise limits isnt an issue in the slightest in drifting.

And TBH i know pretty much every person worth knowing in EDC and so on anyhow, known most of them before EDC existed.

Another one of these for you:

Fuck it ALL and run a 4in unsilenced pipe front to back, and seperate screamer, and head for the 120db static region
Go for that, have fun. You'll get one run at brunters won't you? Then escorted from the site.

It isn't anyone particularly special or is a professional drifter, an acquaintance more than anything but he had a similar problem like you where he had a big fuck off exhaust on his silvia and couldn't do track days due to noise but said he phoned around and got a custom system made up.

I thought perhaps I could ask him where he got it done and let you know. But since you're situation is a bit different with your requirements of flow and power, probably won't be any good to you anyway.

Jan- True! Ill 100% be there, all weekend, if possible ill stay till the end of sunday this time too

PaniK- Whats that got to do with drifting tho? Thats no different from asking someone on here, or anyone with a turbo car? Ie hundreds, if not thousands on here, and every other car forum. Thats what threw me (ok, properly confused me!).
Nobody bothers with anything more than 3in unless well over 500bhp as its not restrictive till then, so the Silvia wont be relevant, most people dont till well over 600bhp or more.

No idea about new Jap wheels mate, sorry.

Smallish update, as im mind numbingly bored today.

I lost the rear panel under drivers side rear light when my back bumper exploded at big speed, and due to it being a 18yr old car and one of I think four JZX81s in the UK and one of I think three with a Mark2 rear end, I thought my odds of Toyota getting me one was slim.

But they did! And within a few days too, nice work

Aside from that, my new S2000 I should have up for sale soonish means possibly 10-15k in my pocket, and that means the Chaser can be, by all intents and purposes, finished in one go.

Not sure exactly what id do, but I can afford to do it I think. Which is nice.

With that kind of money I think itd be pretty retarded to stick with the RB I reckon, I dunno.

Even with the V8 im in a few minds what to do, hell of a lot of options, and I dont mean the minor spec ones, I mean huge differences.

Time to do more sums and try work out whats wisest...
