Now that I have seen it on the engine, it puts into perspective it's real size . What rpm do you seriously anticipate boost will arrive at?

I really hope this works for your both .

Dont think we are interested in things like spool up or lag Mike this is just for fun cos we wanted to do it, we will be taking a far more sensible turbo as well to compare, we are here only once why not enjoy it, the missus has given me a year to push things to the limit, aint seen Mark so happy for a long time.

Rod,
Obviously I realise that it isn't going to be driveable and that it is just a top-speed turbo, but seriously, when do you think the boost will arrive ? 6000, 7000? This is obviously going to give you a very narrow power band to work with, so the gearing is going to be REALLY crucial .

Keep the pictures coming (although try not to be in them ) .

Mike, on the gas it will spool that turbo as early as a T34 on a normal cosworth engine if they want

Chipster,
I'm sure I read that he was planning an off-gas run as well . I really want to know what a turbo that size spins up like , purely for morbid fascination / curiousity purposes, as i have no plans to install the same in my car .

Please explain to me of what relevance a 2.5 litre engine has in comparison with a 2.0 litre regarding boost threshold .

Nice progress Rod, that turbo is ridiculous!

Well given an equivalent VE, its going to spool at 20% less revs than a 2 litre would, so simply add 25% on to get from the 2.5 spool point to the 2.0 one.

However, more important what relevance is a 2.0 to rods?

Mike the fact is we dont know for sure but Mark thinks it will start as low as 4.5k but full boost we will find that out on Wednesday.
Remember we used a 42 Front end on the last Dyno session so its only a larger rear end so it may well be better than we all think, the graph wont lie thou so all will see when it takes off .
No pics today because I forgot the camera .

No doubt you will be accused of lying though because of Dyno choice.

Will be a monster and i cant wait to find out the figures

I am expecting about 5k to start to get in to a good stride, We had a journal bearing GT40 before on it and that was not to bad at all, And we have a whole chunk of compression thrown at it and a new split pulse manifold and diveded housing also so I am not expecting it to be that bad at all.

Rich we was going to another dyno after just to throw a few F###s at the ring leaders of the bull### about this but we wont have the time to be able to do this, As if we run as expected with the Gt42 there are many mods needed to get it to fit so we wouldnt be going back to a GT40.

Responce example I can get a GT40 to spool on a evo nearly 500rpm ealier than a GT35.

thats the kind of boost I am expecting, There have been many other things done to help with responce so I am expecting this turbo to make it in to the car.
