New Brighton Promenade Stages Rally 2011 **70+ NEW PICS ADDED!!**

Just thought I'd stick a few pics up of this. Serviced for someone in 2009, but just went up as a spectator this year.
Was a great weekend. My girlfriend and I travelled up on the Friday evening, just managed to catch the last few cars on the Super Special stage, so that was good, then set up camp with Mat, Rach and the rest of the MDA Motorsport crew, who had a display stand. A few others came down for the evening, but then all went off back to someone's house to sleep in nice, comfortable beds, whilst the rest of us camped
Then it was up early Saturday, ready for the start of the rally proper!
All pictures are off my phone, so no amazing action shots I'm afraid!
Awesome looking Manta in Andrews livery:

Another GM wearing works livery:

Ace looking XE-powered MK2, with carbon bumpers:

Metro 6R4 that had snapped a rear caliper off and broken it's hub. The locked rear wheel hadn't done the rear tyre any favours!

![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/massivewangers/New%20Brighton%20Prom%2011/100920111438.jpg)
One of two WRC Escorts, this one from Mikeanics in Congleton:

The car that went on to win the event outright, an S12 Impreza WRC:
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/massivewangers/New%20Brighton%20Prom%2011/100920111446.jpg)
The other WRC Escort, an ex-RED car I think:
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/massivewangers/New%20Brighton%20Prom%2011/100920111449.jpg)

![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/massivewangers/New%20Brighton%20Prom%2011/100920111462.jpg)
Saw this in the car park, never seen one before! Looked nice and tidy though:
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/massivewangers/New%20Brighton%20Prom%2011/100920111463.jpg)
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/massivewangers/New%20Brighton%20Prom%2011/100920111464.jpg)
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/massivewangers/New%20Brighton%20Prom%2011/100920111465.jpg)
That's the lot. Will try and get a few vids up on youtube as well, as mainly did videos rather than pictures. Thanks to Mat and all for inviting us, was a stormer as always. Quite why anyone would pay hell-and-all to go and watch the WRC is beyond me really. This was £5 per car for a day and a half of action, and a much better variety of cars, not to mention being able to get up close with the cars in the service areas, as well as chatting to drivers and mechanics too.
Worth a look for everyone I think

Yeah, Mike was going great guns in his car, finished in the top ten. Both the WRC Escorts sounded ace, banging like shotguns on pretty much every upshift, could hear them all the way round each stage!

The red 6R4 went off right in front of me right at the end of think was 2nd or 3rd stage just be for the flying finish lets just say he was trying a little to hard and went over 3 kerbs and 4 sets of cones ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
The Red wrc ESCOS is not a RED car but made from wrc/grp a bits they are currently rebuilding a genuine RED WRC car
Was a great weekend think ive missed 4 in 20 years !!

Ah right, didn't realise it wasn't. Sure I was told it was. Still looked a proper machine, sounded well too til it retired. Not sure what happened to it though!

Oooooops, didn't realise they'd hit it that hard
Only saw it in the service area, but they'd snapped the caliper lugs clean off it, which is some going!

No problem mate. I was a zombie Saturday, hardly slept in the tent, so probably wasn't much company ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
There was some nice stuff there, but I think a few retired early and buggered off sadly. A couple of nice machines had to pull out at late notice too. I think it's a sign of the times in a way, less people able to afford it, and I have a feeling it clashed with a couple of other rallies too.
Any luck on those vinyls yet?
