tbh the reason they break down etc is because some ppl aint got the first clue about em lol if you get the things sorted that cause the problems then they run sweet as a nut alot of people just think they can whack the boost up without changing anything else and it just asks for trouble

Had a 5 GTT and an 11 Turbo. Great cars, pretty troublesome but easy enough to work on, my 11 was fookin rapid, had around 220bhp, they all sound great on boost though !!

it sounds unreal on boost and that scorpion system adds to the madness, bet that 11 went well

Looks a bargain, I'd love one.

Annoys me when people say they are unreliable. What they mean is they break when you neglect them. If they are maintained correctly then they are reliable cars, it's just that people neglect them for years and then flog them, then the next guy inevitably has a load of problems.

I know 2 people who didn't have the 1st clue about looking after cars who both ruined their 5 GT's. On the other hand I know of a lady that had one for may years that had it regularly serviced and looked after the car and it never missed a beat. Also a work mate looked after his well and it had 100k on it and was a perfect little car.

Went to see this myself about 2 month ago, bit the engine was in bits and he was selling it with a running fault? guess he fixed it then? Lovely looking car though.

Love it, everybody says they are unreliable same as they do for RS Turbos but tbh what can you expect from a small engined turbo car of that age. A properly maintained and setup R5 should be no more unreliable than any other old car imo

defo remember ians twin engined one was a beast

thanks for all the comments guys this car has seemed to get a great reaction from everywhere and trust me it will be properly looked after and serviced every 3k

P412KER yes the engine was sorted it had a recon head with uprated head gasket and new water pump, plugs and leads. the car fires up first time everytime and drives well just has a boost leak which is being sorted this friday. i used to know of 2 raiders from around my way not seen em for ages tho.

jameswrx spot on mate really i think that was the whole problem even down to people using cheap oil etc im already looking at uprating any of the parts that i think could be a future problem
