well guys lots been going on recently i bought my new gearbox last weekend and dropped it off down at automedics my engine is now out and we have decided to alter a few things

firstly were going to town on the head and porting it to the max with multi angle seats etc and also porting the inlet manifold

second whilst the box is out we sent my flywheel to be lightened which i get back today ill report back on official weight but its meant to be around 4kg

then onto the biggest news my car is going be the official demo car for automedics (am motorsport) so will be at lots of shows, 1/4 mile days, track days etc and the plans that are set for it are rather impressive and with it being a demo car i get the work done very cheap.

few things that are upcoming are a complete respray including engine out and inside the bay done with any holes that aint needed filled in etc, anything that can be renewed will be eg brake servo, brake master cylinder header tank etc. also the wiring loom will be altered so anything thats not needed will go.
engine wise were thinking of moving battery to the boot and fitting aem water injection. an external wastegate will be added and a possible change of turbo spec using my existing one and upgrading the front wheel to a t34 mated to a .49 t25 ex housing with around 30psi put through it. oh and of course a big brake upgrade as the standard ones aint really up to much after standard boost lol
these are all only a few things that were going to be doing so watch this space for one cracking project

Real stunner as it is, will be insane as a demo car, congrats man... & T34 @ 30psi , whats the power gonna be?

What you hoping for down the 1/4 when all said & done? could it crack 11...?

Thanks mate its not bad but its gotta be perfect with it being a show car as well.
Power am unsure of as im not aware of anyone doing this turbo spec iv got a feeling it will crack 250 easy though. 1/4 times are anyones guess depends how good it can be launched lol it might do 11s we will have wait and see i know gtts with around 210bhp can do high 12s.

you should come down here some time, i know a local lad in stafford who has 3 r5's, his names carl you might of heard of him? One of his 5's is a 1.7 turbo campus, the other is a gt28 red Ph2 which has steel liners, forged pistons and rods, newman cam, Omex rev limiter and some other bits, it was 260odd bhp Before he fitted his stainless manifold, 3" downpipe and better intercooler, He also has plans for a gordini head conversion or somethin and wants over 300!

he was also breaking a black ph1 last time i saw him, Hes had shit loads of 5's in the matter of 3 years since knowing him, hes had a purple Ph1 on gold 3 spokes with a genuinew webasto sunroof, a Black Ktec/carisma kitted t25 gt, a grey Gt on polished turbines, also t25, and some others lol!

bit of an update had my flywheel lightened by am motorsport so this should help it rev a bit better espoecially when coming on/off throttle

should have my car back end of this month or start of next just in time get it to some shows etc

been down to am motorsport on my way home from work tonight i now have a lightened/balanced flywheel for the small cost of Ł50.
justin is looking to crack on with my car next week. he informed me that anything that can be polished in the engine bay is going to be done which i wont argue with and also hes going to port my inlet manifold whilst its off. there is going to be plenty of pics of the headwork etc

iv also decided to buy one of the tubular manifolds from the rtoc group buy (Ł135) purely so i can do a back to back test with them against a standard one am not to bothered with regards to big power gains more bothered with spool up?throttle response etc

my old r5 ran a gt28rs with like you say a 0.63 end

13psi of boost at 5100rpm and 30psi of boost at 5500rpm, ported head on standard manifold, due to the 270cam it ran out of puff at 6500rpm so very narrow powerband, still produced 260bhp at 30psi and ran mid 12s at 111mph

when i went from a 270 cam to a 285 it made a much better difference as it was still making power into the early 7krpm to give me a better power band and of course more power, i estimated it was about 275bhp then.

was still on standard pistons and rods so there with some work, bigger ports and valves and more boost i think 300bhp should be achieveable.

best was my mate stu who i helped develop with front mount kit, after which he ran 11.4@124mph at 42psi of boost and revved to 8600rpm.

if i had kept it, i think i would have continued to develop it up to a real 350bhp.....not the old bullshit numbers that went around years ago.

im interested in who ran 11.09 as i work out hes making around 420bhp, any specs on it?

See you and your dad years ago doing 12,s at pod. You only use to have 1k powerband on that lag moster before you changed gears. You also had a front on it that looked like a lorry.

well guys am absolutely loving the car atm got a little tweak of the carb to do today as in 4th and especially 5th its going lean on full boost 13-14afr

carb atm is standard main,2mm needle,1.2mm 2nd stage and 100 air corrector so am thinking either 1.3mm 2nd stage or 0.9 a/c might solve this

gave the car a full valet inside and out yesterday i was really pleased with how the carpet/seats etc come up used ag interior shampoo couldnt believe how well it cleaned everything

See you and your dad years ago doing 12,s at pod. You only use to have 1k powerband on that lag moster before you changed gears. You also had a front on it that looked like a lorry.
thats me, first ever run at pod turned out to be a 12.9 on low boost, turned my water injection on, stuck another set of plugs in as the water was blowing the spark out then pulled the line off the wastegate, was good fun that car, tuning with a carb was so simple back then, if in doubt, add more fuel and boost!!

i think i ran a 1.35mm jet which was good enough for 30psi of boost and on the videos you could tell it was a bit rich, still it helps a little with piston cooling, you added any water injection yet?
