Sorry guys Ive been away working in the pyreenes south france.
And this week im flat out also, but have been doing bits when ever i can the last few days.
just before i went away i picked up this form ebay.
All the holes are mint which is uber rare on these, but some bugger has painted it
Also whilst i was away this box of bits turned up form dave simpson
Long awaited fuel pipes fitted
New fuel injector rubbers and collars
Wobboly head light
Non wobboly headlight
Rocker cover on with new gasket
Brake resivoir on
How nice is that induction pipe, rare as you like also
New sunroof, its actually in now, but forgot to take a pic.
The spoiler is just an eye sore
Its been painted in primer, then casipan blue, then some else has plastic coated it, primered it then put some thick black crap on it
This is a bit ive peeled of, just shows you how thick im talking here
Dont expext any updates for a few days, as ill be sitting here wittling this bloody thing for months now

Well paint stripper is my next plan of action. will try in on a inconspicious area first to see it the plastic can handle it.
Or ill be here for ever just seems a shame to give up as its a mint spoiler under all the crap!!
Tried starting her up also but there no live feed to the fuel pump
Electrics are not my strong point

i really wouldnt use paint stripper as it WILL fuck up the surface of the spoiler. best bet might be to use an industrial steam cleaner. full pressure at over 130 degrees will probably get it off as it doesnt look as the spioler was keyed before painting. i think that spoiler was on ebay a few weeks back

Cosmetic
Paint bonnet
Graphics
Dash in
headliner (still need to source)
windscreen in
Get new numberplates made up
Source front spots and fogs
Thats it done!

Almost there Lee
Everytime I log on I look at this thread!!
Lee.....need your help! My little work heap, a 205 diesel that runs on anything you put in the tank! Well I need to respray the roof. I have 4 sheets of 600 grade paper, some masking tape (few rolls) newspapers, the correct colour blue in 2 tins and 1 big tin of primer......where do I go from here, any thing else I need, course paper, laquer etc??
Thanks mate

Lee I have just read this from start to finish........what can I say ???? You did a top job doing the car the first time and have worked miracles rebuilding it again in such a short period of time. That is nothing short of stunning and fully deserves the mag feature promised in a previous reply. Many people would have thrown the towel in after that but you just got stuck back in. I personally can't wait to see this car finished and hope you enjoy driving her once she's done. Credit to you mate.

Thanks guys
Its really not that special, I dont reguard this as a mint car or would i call it a restoration, and definatly buy far not my best.
As far as the car is concerned im not sure if i can enjoy it? emotional baggage and all that? Looking foward to geting the mot cert and actually driving her, but thats as far as it goes.
Id love a feature on the car, purley from a story point of view, but buy no means would i want it to shout about its self or have lots of silly angle shots.
godzilla, ill pm you in the morning, too knackered tonight!

Sunroof in
New bronze screen with top tint
mirror
Got really pissed off with the car not having any ignition circuit, had a brain wave (scary i know!!!) and found a spare 16i fuel relay, plumbed it in and wehyhey we have fuel
Rolled her out to get some sunlight
Time to see if theres any life.......taking no chances this time
made up temp ht leads to test for spark.............nothing
went and bought some new leads........still nothing
So now i have ignition fuel pressure and pressure at injectors but NO BLOODY SPARK
Defeated i carried on with the spoiler, pissed off with scraping, I went delusional and set it on fire.
It seemed to work the paint was SOOOOOOOO think it blistered but didnt touch the plastic underneath. paint just fell off with a scraper.
so more fire
More scraping
the important bit
Its no way near as Nice as my original spoiler, but will do for now untill one turns up on ebay.
Really disellusioned with the car now, I cant see myself ever driving it, just too much baggage. debating wether to sell it. theres no love left.

Just chill mate.Ive fell out with my car loads of times and ive felt like calling it a day many a times with it.Is your crank sensor working ok,is it picking up a signal.Do you have any power to the coils.

Its looking real good now.
You have done so much in such a short time i'm not surprised you feel a bit pissed off with it.
As you well know doing a restoration is a test of patience, so doing it twice on the same car is gonna do your head in at some point!
Have you got somewhere you can just lay it up for know, and then come back to it at a later date?
As i expect you have seen on other rs1600i resto's,there is often fuel or ignition problems towards the end of a build.
I hope you stick with it,but if you do decide to sell it no one can say that you didn't do a hell of a job to get as far as you have.

Crank sensor wire i was told is in full working order, as are the coils.
My ECU I know works.
The sensor wire was cut on the loom/bulkhead side and i have joined it back up, so thinking this is the problem bit! so need to find a sensor wire/ Multiplug to ECU wire if that makes sence.
Im unsure how to test the coils?
half tempted to buy a dizzy and be done with it?
Mind is made up. Im "unofficially" open to offers. and will make a decision in the next week or so if im gona advertise it.
Would be nice to get it MOT'd and taxed, but thats as far as im ever going with it.
Had a gut full of fords, going back to VW, its where I belong.
