I'm surpsised to see that you haven't made more parts instead of buying them. Surely it can't be too hard to repair/fabricate a new fuel distributor? lol

It's nice that you've got the cats helping, take you ages without em.

Right..some more parts coming through now

Peed it down all day yesterday so stuck inside.

Was busy doing things around teh house and garden so only spent a few hours on her.

Got these sent in the post FREE from "Slider" a mate on the RSI forum

Now i have both parts of the bulkhead side of the sensor loom (if that makes sence...it was cut!)

There are 3 tabs so i guess the

Yellow sheath
Black sheath
and bare wire are the 3 wires?

Anyone know the numbers

think black is 2
yellow 4
and bare 3

????

Time to see what damage ther is to the servo?

Luckily i have 2 spare servos from my S1 RST resto, so had enough bits to make one good one.

the mastercylinder striped

degreased

Bare metal

Mint set of internals

back on the car

Been to get these bits today

Dash (sadly not mint like the last one, but will do to get the car working for now) Chap gave it to me for free which was nice!

Twin coils in working order. (need a spare ht if anyone has one!)

O/S bumper corner cap

Assortment of hoses

Sensor wire plate (v good condition)

The blue and black interior ECU's

washer jets

A complete brake crossover bar

Speedo cable

front overriders

Really Need a SENSOR WIRE and Metering head now!! all thats stoping it from running!!!

I already run my own business, not sure if i could cope with the demands of enthuiastic car owners as well.

Everyone says i should do it, but its not as simple as that. plus the fact my 2nd half of my tax bill came through the door today, enough to buy a nice cossie anyway or is that build a swimming pool for an mp.

Well people 8 days since the fire now, and shes looking tasty again!

This is the old metering unit

Went out on a last minuite dash last night as 9pm to pick this up from Lee/cosevo on the RSI forum.........Free of course and a lovley sensorwire!!!

Only to wake up this moring and reciece a package from lee/cosevo, again free...... with this in

Went out and got a few bits today for her also

Cam belt was not damaged in the heat but its off for piece of mind (I put it on here tempo whilst the engine went back in the car to be safe on the timing.)

New belt on and marked, then engine turned and checked....all good

New aux belt

Alternator was in the "coolest" part of the engine bay and only damage was melted plastic from the headlight/grille and headertank.

Refinished and ready to go on

On with heat guard also

The new crossover with as new nylon bushes from 'billy' refinished and waiting to go on

As new !!!! speedo cable

Spare "5th injector" i had, refinished with new gasket

Crossover bar on, fuel lines in, metering unit refinished and in, coils cleaned and in.

And heres how she looks tonight 8 days after the fire

Yesterday I undertook probably the worst job on a mk3 as any owner will know.........CV joints and boots, and steering boots.

Wouldnt normally mind but the fact id already done this about 2 months ago ans the cars done 0 miles was very frustrating

Got these lovley bits from a real nice bloke called Dan who lurks on the seriesone forum. Did a swap with my old steering wheel and an perfect but dirty S1 wheel for this lot..........

and

Graham on the rsi forum, very kindly sorted me out with a screen.
Correct bronze with a very sexy 80's top tint

Had to collect it from Walthamstow (E17) which was the scariest thing ive done in a while. Not used to so many people and "london" driving, was a bit claustrophobic for me and my landrover. (at least i had "alright, alright, everythings gna be alright" stuck in my head.......those of you who are old enough to remember the joke)

Big thanks to Bryan -"imnoteasy".

Has just sent me a full, and I mean full set of stickers. Totally free

The Boots (sorry for soft focus, my cameras playing up at the mo)

Were talking inner boots as well here

Top mounts

Steering

All on at last

Whiles i was under there, gear linkage re connected, sensor wire and new bracket fitted and all looking nice again

Thanks so much to everyones generosity...Its now an unbelievable 2 weeks since the fire, and the car is litterally 3 parts away from running!!!!!!!

Well its exactly 2 weeks now since the fire. I really had my heart set on having it running again, but sadly im still missing a few fuel pipes, and 2 Ht leads. So its was never going to happen.

Been nursing a hangover today, so not really enjoyed anything, but good excuse to try and tidy up this new loom and get it working.

Alternator connected

Starter connected

Forgot to ask...I also need the fuel lines for this. This is the old one but luckly i had a spare one that came with the car. although id imagine this one still in working order.

Dash ecu in

This loom has obviously had some sort of alarm installed and im also wondering if it was running some sort of turbo technics conversion in what ever car it came out from, due to the location and arrangements made to the loom?
Anyway most of it is now back to standard, well as much as i can do for now untill i get her fired up and the dash in.

SO 2 weeks on, this video means a fair bit to me, not that intresting as I havn't achieved my goal but its close enough

Shouting at the screen and shit. Very well done pal!

Thanks, I enjoy saving these old girls, so its worth it.

I can still remember the fire (well i should do its not even 3 weeks ago yet) like it was an hour ago.

Just that feeling of the situation being totally out of your control, I remember seeing the 15-20ft flames coming out the bonnet and front, and just thinking, its a gonner. My mrs was screaming at me to get away from the car, but for some reason i just kept going back, with more and more water. Wasnt really that dangerous are it was all alight anyway, but i tell you if them flames had got anyfurther then the front seats then sed be in the scrappy now, as there was Ł25 of petrol in that tank at the back .

Anyway shes back on track now, hoping my pipes turn up in the post tommrow, then i can (fingers corssed) get her running

Heres the dash i have, not ideal, but anyone who has looked for a mk3 dash before will know beggers cant be choosers.

As you can see the cracks are bad and some drilled some holes in the forn also.

I thought long and hard on this one, as the fill needed to be hard but still flexible. so fillers out the question as it plastic repair stopper. In the end I tried seam sealer, which did a good job but was a nightmare to keep "tidy"

so after wiping it with thinners i decided to try some chaulk, and it bloody worked.
Here you can see the extent of the cracks

Thanks to my wife for letting me use a make up brush, it was perfect for the job, hard enough to blend it in but still leave it in place!

Coco even lent a hand

Mrs caught me off guard inspecting the roof

So I caulked her head

Ive decided, now the sunroof is out and the headlining, i cant live with the poxy bee sting aerial anylonger. So its a perfect chance while the screens out to refinish it

the offending aerial

Rest of roof is not actually too bad, but what the hell

In primer

Massive thanks to MandyMK3 for sending these FOC.
Will get these on tommrow!

Lee..... You are a Master

I thought of you the other day. I bought a little workhorse to kart my dogs around in, a little Pug 205 diesel. I though I would give her a clean as previous owner not cleaned her in over a year. So I got stuck in with some Safe Cut and Autoglym Super Resin polish.......it was a nightmare, took ages. Whilst sat back looking at my tiny amount of progress I thought of how well you have done, so I got stuck back into the the little 205 with full force!! I tried to repair some laquer peel on the roof with some 800 grade paper & Halfords laquer spray......... I failed

Thanks mate.

Work hard, Play hard...its the best way!

All I do is set my self a target for the day then try and totally beat it!

Roofs are a nightmare, hence why im respraying the entire roof on mine all becausr of a 1/2" aerial hole.

You were not far off on the repair, ideally you need to prep the area flat, prime, base coat (the colour), then laquer. and then blend in with G3. But as you know easier said then done.

Im still shit at spraying, ive had enough practice now, but im getting to my limit with the tools. mostly i need a proper spray booth, the workshop with the aston in is now boarded, so i just need to plaster it and fit some megga lights, but it will never be a proffesional spray booth. Getting rid of dust and contaminants i think its the difference between a good and a shite paint job!

Dont know why, but I love old pugs. Bought my mrs a little 306 D turbo as her 1st car years back now, still would have another if i was after a little run arround. (and I promise not wo write this one off I T-boned and old lady at 60mph when she pulled out on me)

Well been busy with work bits, but did manage to finish off the roof, Im not 100% pleased with the roof, but its ok (considering it was not done in a clinical spray booth)

Clear coat

The dash has come out pretty much as I expected, buy no way is it "mint" but its so much tidyer than those gaping holes it had.
(the colour is spot on....dont let the pics fool you its just the flash on the camer making it look like a ghia colour)

Still havnt recieved them last 3 fuel pipes, im told they are in the post but dont recon they will be here untill next week.

Shame really as i was aiming for a 3 week turn around, once the pipes turn up, she just needs starting electrics checking over then MOT
