Couple of questions

1.How do you get the sky in pics really blue ?

2.How do you get the black borders round your pics ?

Thats is all cheers

There are a number of ways,
1:
You can use a polarizer, exposing for the sky will also help.
In photoshop CTRL 'U' change the colour chanel to blue and adjust the saturation.
It's worth reading about exposure to understand how your sensor tries to expose a scene.
2:
Photoshop, personally i'd make the canvas bigger, i think from memory it's in edit-canvas size. By making the canvas bigger you'll get your black border. (i think you can pick the colour from memory)

I like shot 2 from Dartmoor, i just wish you hadn't made it a HDR thing.
Matt.

Me too, i think its the best of the bunch, the composition is far better than the other photos imo, although unlike Matt i actually like the processing.

I think the dull water lets this down, would have been better with a good reflection from the sun in it

Adz - Personally i think its the plain / washed out sky that lets the photo down not the dull water.

Yea that too.
I have recieved some lens filters today, you think they would help with the sky?

Nice one mate, how are you getting on with the 35mm?

i was after a 50mm prime and debating between thr 1.8 and 1.4 for a while and now Nikkon have released this and its dirt cheap

have you got an examples yet?

I fancied the 50mm originally but eventually changed my mind and opted for the 35mm, as i thought it would be more of a useful/usable focal length, it was Ł199 from Jacobs Digital in Newcastle.

Argos have the Nikon 50mm f1.8 lens for Ł87.99 but unfortunately its been out of stock for a while All the reviews of the 50mm lens say that for joe public its not worth the extra expense for the faster f1.4 lens and that they produce their best images when stopped down to around f4-f8

Sorry but i havent got any examples with the 35mm yet, been a little preoccupied with other stuff lately Will have some soon though, as im going to a wedding in 2 weeks, so want/need to practice before hand.

Right I have got some filters for my lens, they are a polarizing filter, a UV filter and a FD filter.
Any advice when to use them?
Thanks

I took this photo last year in Vegas, not to bad for a hand held effort. Bloody hard to take photos on the strip at night in Vegas, so much neon lights etc..

The Second one is the hotel I stayed in (plams Place) as viewed from my car, whilst driving by. The bottom one I took whilst watching one of my clubs junior teams play in a local tournament.

Latest shoots were postponed due to a stag do and bad weather. Fingers crossed for nice weather friday!

Red, that shot taken with your 35mm? Be interested to see some shots with it.

No, i've still not used the 35mm lens yet that photo was taken with the 18-105mm kit lens.

I need a bit play/practice with the 35mm as i have a wedding to attend on Sunday, should hopefully get some nice shots there

c.h.r.i.s - pick of the bunch for me is the 3rd dog portrait shot, the close up one

jonnyrsturbo - i like all 3 of those photos, agree with Muska that the first one could benefit from a bit more punch, but its still a nice shot. What camera you using?

Muska - another nice set... you beginning to make a few quid from a photography sideline now then?

Charlie Chalk - like the reflection in the ferrari mirror... nice leather

Thanks, been bringing in a bit for about a year now. Really want to grow it into something I can retire into.

Ferrari 360 in the near future.

I like your shot of the dog looking over the sofa, great candid.
