Does anyone have any spare Sunstar Ford engines which will fit my Norev capri??? im looking for anything suitable & not like a 1.6 from a GL escort, i got out bid on a good ford engine on ebay like what im really wanting now. im taking the norev capri apart to paint it & after taking the fake engine out, i found loads of room to put another better detailed engine in, im not bothered if iv got to cut out the bit for the steering because i notice the steering is totally wrong anyway, turn the steering wheel left & the wheels turn right!, i know the problem but it looks hard to fix(the bent bit of rod on the steering wheel is up side down & when you turn it the correct way, it works but doesn't connect very well).
im finding the capri much easy'er to take apart than the escort & im starting to think could Norev & Sunstar be sister company's?, i see alot of things that look or done the same way, the wheels are screwed on from the inside on the capri, the screws to take the bottom off the car is almost same place as escort, the screws are the same, the bit holding the bonnet is exact same, the seats are made in the same way & both also has the carpet on the floor, alot in common!

Norev capri door cards are brittle, mine just cracked with a tiny bit pressure!(door card's are connected to 2 bits just below the window at each end & 1 bit at the very bottom in middle, also window & door card are one piece) rear door cards bits want to break at the top of the window. wing mirrors are hard to remove. thats really all the problems iv found while taking it apart, only thing im not happy about is the boot will only stay connected with the roof trim attached to car so boot will need painted on its own
Hope this info helps anyone who wants to paint a 1/18 Norev mk3 capri

have you got any ford mod's or standard ford alloys you might want to swap for the capri engine?, its only the top half just like on the ut model escort cosworth, i'll upload a photo of it in a wee while. do you have any 7spokes escort rs1600i alloys?
i havent mate sorry, ive got some very basic escort gl spares such as the steel wheels etc but nothing of much use, sorry.
do have some oz/compomotive rally 5 spokes though if theyre any use

i was very tempted to do it silver because iv still got silver paint left from my old nova, the original plan was to paint it white & i bought the white paint, then i really wanted it sunburst red so i thought i'd use the white as a base coat after the primer & think it looks very good in white so it'll stay white i think, looks like im gona save & buy a 3rd 1/18 mk3 to paint red!
im still awake! once i start a job, i like to keep at it till its finished or if i get very tired! to be honest about the capri, it was much easy'er to paint than the escort, the bits came of easy'er except the bloody wing mirrors, they wer proper stuck on & i split one of the door cards when i didn't put much pressure on & it cracked, its not noticeable so im not bothered. im after another engine for the capri coz there's tonn's of room in the engine bay when the dummy engine's out & i think it would be much better because there'll be a whole engine instead of half
the escort & capri are the 1st cars iv fully painted since well over a year ago!
Have you got the right tools?, i find jewler screwdriver's very important for pushing out bits like bumpers, lights etc(its a pain when the whole bits superglued in place), i also use the screwdrivers to wright car reg's
