alot of insurers wont touch you at your age; you can try greenlight and HIC but i dont hold up much hope. there was a guy on here saying he pays over Ł3000 for his cossie and he was your age i think

best thing would probably have your dad insure it and you insure another car with a policy that allows driving other vehicles third party (which will still be tricky to find), then just use it now and again till you get a bit more experience and start getting some ncb built up.

i was a young lad when i got my 3dr, couldnt get a sensible price anywhere so what i done was rang the people who i insurered my daily driver with (church hill) and got 2 weeks insurance on the same policy as my corsa, its classed as a curticy car i think. they let me do it 10 times a year. cost bout Ł50 each time. you could also try an insurace broker or a classic policy.GOOD LUCK!!. get some pics up of ya car.

it might be better to put it in ur mums name and u a named driver.women seem to get off lighter. then jus 3rd party fire and theft it and put very limited mileage on it. if its still horrendous cant u jus have it as a track car for now and wait a bit longer?

Unless you work in the Motortrade, as I found out the other week. They tried to remove it from my policy. (I didn't let them as it comes in handy from time to time)

Supposedly my job high risk.. I'm only a parts monkey

Try getting f/c quotes with a much higher excess than normal ie Ł1000 excess (dont forget that on tpft you wouldnt be able to claim at all) as this has been known to produce some decent quotes.

Tesco are a very good insurer for doing this with (on the phone not internet), and if you get a cheaper quote from direct line (underwritten by the same company) they do a no quibble price match.

Hope this helps a little

Please do not listen to some of these comments about insuring it in another name or other such nonsense, if it's your car and you get caught out (which you will as any claim involving a Cosworth and a young driver will be closely looked at) you will find you have no insurance and are fuc*ed, possibly having to cover any third party damages yourself
Driving other cars means just that, you can not drive a car owned by yourself, only owned by someone else and it must be insured already, and being third party only wont cover the car once you get out of it
Ring around and you may find someone willing to do it on a classic car policy if your very lucky but this will still cost you an arm and a leg, and this will only make the car harder to drive

I'm 24 fella and really struggled to insure my 3 door when I bought it in Jan.

Greenlight and Brentacre were the only ones I found that would cover anyone under 25 on a 3 door. Def give greenlight a call, they came in at Ł892 for me, when brentacre wanted Ł1600+.

Is it a 2nd car? Mines on a 3k miles policy and garaged in a pretty good postcode, which also helps.

mate the thing is THEY have to prove its not yours !!!, its not on finance and the log book is in mummys name at the same address then they cant do shite

wheres that bloke driving daddys BMW when you need him for proof

the car DOES NOT have to be insured on all policys either but some of em are,, and will be stated on the certificate !

btw no one is stupid enough to pay 7k on insurance on a car,,,, who ever claimed that is talking bollox and i want to see proof,,,, people with that sort of cash spare tend to be ALOT better with money HENCE not spunking it on pointless shite like that when the fine is 200 quid

wrong, i have spoke to the police & insurance companys about this. as longs as your with the car it is insured, although this does mean that it couldn't be left parked on the road

As I understand it, if your insurance is invalidated for whatever reason, even 3rd party claims are out the window, leaving you personally liable for the amount claimed.

Some of the 3rd party victims can get money from the Motor Insurers Board fund for uninsured drivers, but they then come after the driver just like any other debt. And meantime, every other insured driver has to contribute just a little more of their premium to the fund.

I always tell people to get their own insurance, otherwise when their like 20-21 and CAN afford to have their own, their STILL paying shit loads because they haven't built up their no claims by taking their own policy
