Yes, but it says cannot find that drive and then it lists the detected drives below..

One of which is the aforementioned drive!!!

Seen this when drives are on Cable select rather than master or slave. Neither are right or wrong just different way of setting up the drives. Could also be a currupt flash program.

Lee, it is set as the master (unplugged the DVD drive so this was the only one in) and also tried re-downloading the flasher, still no joy

I have had a problem ever since putting a new motherboard in, that it just crashes when trying to write a cd! (Right at the very start after you hit "Burn")

My suspision is that when you boot up I get a bubble pop up and says "Direct CD is not compatible with this version of windows and may cause stability problems. The drivers will be disabled" blah blah, but it's not installed anywhere!!! (That I can find!) And it's not like you can just download cd burning drivers to write over these knackered ones!

Ahh. Have you put that error into google. Loads of sites telling ya how to stop that.
I think its a DLL or some thing aint it.
I would also see if there are any Bios updates relating to the IDE on your new motherboard.

Big thanks for the help Lee, tried a few of them but to no joy! I'll look into it ni more detail another time. Another odd this is all the drives are listed as SCSI drives in the control panel, when they are all IDE!
