Default E-bay advice please

I dont usually sell much on e-bay but I sold my mobile the other day as i've had an upgrade.

I clearly stated on the advert ( in the payment details ) that I wouldnt post the item until funds had cleared my bank account.

The buyer paid by paypal and is very aggravated that i wont post it out immediately - he is saying that he has a 'confirmed' account and I should be happy with it then accuses me of trying to con him, 3 emails already today. I understand what he's saying but dont really trust PP hence my stipulation about waiting till funds have cleared.

Do you think i'm being unreasonable?

I normally post stuff straight away when its been paid for with paypal
I wouldn't if the Paypal account wasn't verified or if the buyer had any shonky feedback though!

i had the same problem Matt - except the guy sent me a cheque and expected me to post straight away.

rules are rules and ebay will back you up as you stated your rules in your advert if he wants to start complaining

You are not being unreasonable.

He KNEW the terms when he purchased, and he choose to purchase anyway.

Thats just his tough.

If you didnt say that in the advert, you would have grounds to feel guilty.

But the guy has a point to be honest!
He has paid you via Paypal so you have the funds in your Paypal account. Is he supposed to wait until you transfer the money from Paypal to your bank account If you don't trust Paypal then don't offer it as an alternative when it comes to payment!

I really dont want a big argument with him tho as his feedback seems ok

I understand what your saying mate but imo Paypal is fine as long as he is a UK member. I have sold loads of stuff on Ebay and taken Paypal as payment and have never not got my money.

If its cleared into your paypal account i think you should pay him, i thought from how you said it that he had paid you by a paypal "echeque" cause he wasnt verified or something.

But of course, if it says into your BANK account clearly on the ebay ad, you still have the right to stick to that.

Just to complicate things a little; I accepted a payment from someone some time ago by Paypal, he was a verified user, had good feedback and seemed OK. About 4 weeks after I received the payment Paypal decided to reverse the transaction. Paypal wasn't interested in providing any assistance - total wankers. Because the little twat lived so far away I ended up taking him to court to recover the money (the 70 odd quid involved ended up costing him about Ł250!)

It was this that stopped me from accepting Paypal.

IMO, I really wouldn't post the phone until the money is in your bank account, if it's something you state in your auction it's hardly your fault the dumb fook can't read.

Those circumstances must have been extreme...I keep my paypal account low to avoid people trying to reclaim money....its never happened...i take the view that Paypal is an online bank account....if he's paid by paypal i'd send the item....thats y people use paypal to ensure a swift process...if he's verified and in the uk i would think it only right to send the item.....i'd be kicking off if you wouldn't send it....

The reason why it happened was Paypal "felt" the transaction might have been fraudulent; the buyer was fine with what they had bought and hadn’t reported it as a fraudulent transaction, so no problems along those lines. The only thing that the buyer did say to me was his Paypal account was a mess so possibly there was something wrong, not really sure TBH. I did give him several chances to sort out other payment (which he initially said he would do) but that was the last I heard from him, even tried to contact him be asking if anyone of here knew him but no one did

For some proper horror stories with Paypal have a look at http://www.paypalsucks.com/ Some people have lost thousands and thousands of pounds due to Paypal's rather odd policies and apparent indifference

If Paypal find that the transaction was funded by a solen credit card they will reverse the payment even if it puts you into negative balance and allegedly they will pursue you later for non payment if you don't pay up.

I recently bought and item described as yours, "wont sent till paypal cleared " and had no problem waiting, it may be he didnt notice, I've missed a few that dont take Paypal and had to send cheques.

Dont send until you are happy.
