Default the best all round car to buy

put a few good posts on now looking to change my focus rs wots the best car to get for around 18 grand no cosworths had them all and lucky to have an escort cos in the garage my new car must live out side on the drive will be ok am lookin at evo 8 or m3

Good all rounder is a last generation Focus ST 170. Very practical, reasonable performance and economy and cheap too.

Evo or new generation Focus ST?

Not sure an E46 M3 can be bought for 18k yet. You might find a dog for that.

M5 E39, easy pick one up for that, awesome car and waaaaay better than any Focus ever built and IMO as good as an E46 M3

Yep that's 400bhp innit?? Got a mate with one he's very happy with it, even though it replaced his 550bhp Cossie.

or if you don't want M5 insurence, buy an E39 540ise - 4.4 V8, 6 speed cog box, all the toys and great on insurence and fuel and still in the region of around 350 ponies i believe too

Dickycox, look into insurance on the Evo , as if i leave mine outside within a 1mile radius of my house between dusk and dawn then it's not covered , however in certain situations it is, they try to get people to garage them,

But again this is in my case and am sure others are different
