What do you mean ? As in saved on the hard drive ?
It's a proprietary format, I am not aware that anyone has managed to get any useful data off the drive if that's what you are trying to do

The only way you are going to do this is to buy a video capture device and hook the sky box up to it. The hard drive is encrypted and in skys own native format. I have not seen anything that can read this format. There may be something out there but its doubtful.

Done that mate, i have a nice tv card and a nice phat hard drive too
With regard to the format.... Sky actually say that you can copy what you have recorded onto a dvd burner direct from the Sky+ box, if thats the case does the box reformat into a dvd readable format?
Otherwise whats the point if the dvd player can't even read it when you try to play it?

Billy when you use the copy to feature, it just displays it as a picture, in the dvd burner is hardware which just encodes the video picture into dvd format in realtime mode. All the ports do on the sky box is output the picture, the tv displays it or in this case the dvd player encoded it to dvd format.

If you put the hard drive into a computer it will be gobbledegook to the PC !!! It's not because it's a hard drive that the data on there is readable by a computer. Well, it could be, if someone had figured out how the skybox records onto the hard drive.
So far, as far as I know, it's safe as houses and you won't get your mitts on the data... DVD backup is the only solution.

I had it installed Friday. (Was a big install of 1 X + box and 2 X Digibox's with mutliroom) So far very happy with it no major problems I've noticed the + box ticks a bit and the fan comes on every few hours but goes off after a short time, from what I understand this is normal. But it's recorded all my programs I missed over the weekend and loving the pause and rewind

If you are wanting to take stuff from you sky+ box and put it on to disc, can you not just plug in a recordable dvd player into the back of the sky+ box with a scart, then go to your sky+ planner highlight what you want to record, then hit the red button on you remote for the copy option?
