PC PURCHASE HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a Packard Bell and it wasn't great.
Bought a Dell that came when it said it would and has been entirely faultless. Their factory is in Ireland, and they've just opened a call centre in Scotland but I think that is for tech support.
Until hearing your problems I've never heard a bad word about them - I'm even still using an old 486 laptop that work were going to throw out, but is more than adequate for me on Word, Excel and internet.

Not really sure what your budget is, but these are not bad computers and come with a windows xp disc and not a recovery disc. This means you wont lose all your files should you need to reload the computer. Good spec on it.
PAckard bell are basic family pc`s and nothing more. They are genuinely reliable and certainly no harder to work on than any other pc. They now come with the option to restore the PC without losing your data. If packard bell was a car it would be a 1.8 family mondeo, built for comfort not speed, if you want a cossie speed computer then you will buy from a specialist manufacturer and not the likes of hp,compaq, pbell, dell, philips etc.. Websites such as www.scan.co.uk sell specialist systems or www.alienware.com

Got a Dell now and had no trouble ordering it. Plus it works great. But I have been told Dell are hard to upgrade (not sure why - I've had no problems).
You could try a Compaq ... they sell em at Dixons/PC World.
Or (would you believe) Woolworths are selling cheapo Medion computers at mo by case load!
Well they are in Derby. Dead cheap too ... not saying they will be great but my Medion DVD is a wonderful machine
Shings, intel doesnt matter to me mate, i have an AMD 3200+ never had an Intel chip in my life!

Dell are hard to upgrade cause of the case and motherboards they use although some models are easy to work on.
Shings what do you want the pc to do? ie.. games, internet, video encoding etc...
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/359879 Not a bad spec but please note that the mobo will not be a big branded item, probably something like trigem or budget msi board.
You have to remember that pc`s are built to a price point so although you see a similar spec pc costing £200 more than another brand it will probably have better quality parts in it.
