i performed the fault finding test on my 2wd cossie, i think this test was originally posted by Simon SECS
anyway running through the test i found 3 potential problems with readings. What i want to know is what problems these would cause if any? i will list the problems i have at the bottom.
the tests were done with the car stone cold, the battery voltage was 12.51V and the Main ECU power was 11.88V
The faults
MAP SENSOR CHECK: check for DC voltage of approx 1.8 to 2.5V between pins 11 and 15..my reading was 1.55V
COOLANT TEMP SENSOR CHECK: check resistance pins 29 and 11 for 800 ohms to 5000 ohms ( depends on temp ) my reading 741ohms
CHARGE TEMP SENSOR CHECK: check resistance pins 31 and 11 for 800ohms to 5000ohms ( depends on temp ) my reading 745ohms
now i know the readings are only just outside but would they have any effect?
i have had trouble with very rough cold start ( up and down between 800rpm and 1500rpm)**
also i have a missfire at peak boost and running lean at the top end, possibly due to holding boost better than expected but maybe more to it
than that.
** after plugging the ECU back in and starting the car, it seemed to run ok from cold, does the ECU reset ?? i'll try it again in a bit.
thanks for looking

what MAP sensor do you have? 3 bar? in which case you would expect a lower voltage at atmospheric pressure than on a 2 bar.
750 ohms is about 60 deg. C, so if your engine was stone cold it would appear to be a problem. but generally, these sensors either work or they don't. they don't usually drift out of tolerance or anything. i would guess at a problem with your measurement, rather than a problem with both sensors.
