After keeping them nice and safe with me at my student house in cardiff, whilst moving to another house, I decided to drop all my "important" stuff off with the old dear, passport, birth certificate etc, so I wouldent misplace them during the move....

Not really a problem, but it seems I'm going for a few jumpseat flights at work soon and *think* I need my passport for them (not sure if aircrew just take their airside pass, or need their passport too).

Anyway, as far as I understand I need my birth cert, to re-apply for a passport....I have done a quick search on the net, and theres a few places that say they can get them:

..for example, but I don't know if I can trust these sites? Would be a rather easy way for someone to have all my identity details handed to them on a plate, is there an "official" way to do it or is this the way ok?

its about 8 quid to get a duplicate birth cert... you have to just go down the place where your birth was registered

Does it make it any harder if the place you were born isn't there anymore? They knocked it down I believe (St Pauls in Cheltenham)

Your birth would have been registered somewhere other than the hspital (usuallly)
