Built my new website today, for hosting the better resutls of my photography.
hoping to build up a ncie portfolio, so knocked this site up to put all my work onto.
I'm just after feedback from you guys, be it good or bad, so I know where I'm going with it so far.
Thanks alot

You will find images in all galleries of the menu, so please browse around and just see how you get on. Any niggly probs, please let me know so I can look into them. Also, try the comments box at the bottom, wanna see if that's all pukka too
Much appreciated

Used to do a bit of Flash myself when I worked for a web design company. Fished my books out last week to do a splash screen for my site which isnt going very well as I seem to have forgotten a fair bit in 2.5 years
Firstly, looks very good, black especially.
My only tips from a personal perspective:
On the home page, you list "Arts | Landscape | Monochrome" - I thought that was the menus and had to do a couple more takes and hovering to find the "Enter" button.
Inside menu is good and very asthetically pleasing.
I would put the feedback form on a completely seperate page, the reason being, html buttons look untidy compared to flash which has a very clean look. I would perhaps have a seperate menu altogether for the contact/feedback point.
Oh and is that a dead person hanging in the first picture once you have entered?
HTH mate and definately a good looking site in the making

To be honest, you mentioned all the things I possibly don't like about the site myself...how flukey is that
Right, first things first, going to jump into Photoshop and change the splash page text under my site name arts | landscape |....and make the enter button easier to see
then, I'll think about making a small menu barbetween the top logo and the start of the flash menu, with maybe comments - contact - links, somethign along those line
I'll then get back to you

You must have a bit of web design background to pick up on those things also and to be able to build in Flash
Will keep an eye open at the thread for an update and view it again after your changes but definately looking good so far.
Other forum goes that could be good also are Pet and Billabong for feedback if they dont see this thread

Okie dokie, well I gotta shoot out soon, so can't sit here and do what I want really sooooooo....
I've made simple changes http://www.cruiseculture.net/djaphoto/fig/
totally removed comments for now, and main page doesnt need scroll bar, all nice and compact, changed splash page font and made enter hopefully easier to spot

Much better mate
Would still however try to minimise the text to just your copyright if possible IMO and would try a softer edge font as well.
Definately much better though mate.
Will check back in my morning

The only fault I found is when you click on a pictures full size image and then click back it takes you back to the home page

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Love the sky pic on the front page mate !!
You could just put a little comment under some of the pics....
Like on the Guy Fawkes one... just put something like 'Fawkes' or 'Guy' so people relate to it....
Other than that... looks good mate... impressed !!

Thanks for all your comments, taken onto board and used where possible
As for adding font to images, I've given that a miss Niel, as you can do mouseover in the top right hand corner where it says 'file info' and this describes the image. But...did put font on the pic that is used each month on startup. Next month will be something to do with xmas
Nath: Yes, with it being flash, i all operates on one page, so if you hit back it sends you to splash page, thats nothing I can change. If you noticed, there is flashing text by your mouse curser when the pic is open. click to go back
Stu: I can't get to edit the flash code to make it say 'click to open'. It's a downloaded piece of software I got and built, but don't have access to sourcecode. I could contact the programmer, maybe he could help me, but until now I gotta leave it as is...
Anyhow, just re-edited the splash page, used minimal text and put little note saying 'click anywhere to enter'. And you'll notice the guy fawkes pic has been sexed up
