Default Spirited Away (What everyone think)

Just watched it on Sky Cinima and all I gotta say is WOW!

I love all that Jap mythology and fantasy stuff, but always been a fan of the Jap animations and I gotta say Walt Disney should be spinning in his cryogenic coffin right about now cus that film makes everything disney has ever come out look like some sat morning cartoon

If your not a fan of animation, (like a few people I know) you probably wont give it the time of day.

But I really enjoyed it So many levels to it.

Akira rocks but they tried to squeeze about 5 books into one film.... so none of the end made sence

Ghost in the Shell, same problem should have been a series, but again didn't make any sence.

I could tell you the polt, but I'd be here all night typing it out

But the quality of animation in Spirited Away is far superior to them two films and has a decent pacing so you know what going on (even if you aint into your Jap mythology)

Jap Dragons are just cool

yeah akira was rushed as f**k towards the end... the bit where tetsuo (sp?) gets shot by the SOL satelite rocks tho and the biker wars... pure class... i SOOOO want kaneda's bike!

GITS i didnt really "get" what a ghost was or how they were cybernetically enhanced... that kinda made it difficult to understadn the film

oh and the main character is NOT supposed to die ina movie

Well for the enhanced bits as far as I can work out they were just brains in a machine body.

The ghost was (bear with me on this one) was a AI made by one of the Sections to remotely hack peoples databases and gather information. Like some uber virus. But it eventually gathered so much information it became sentient and aware of its own exsistance.

oh and the main character is NOT supposed to die ina movie
She didn't die, the AI merged with her to form a new... erm... thing

I thought Spirited away was a great film too

I used to be into Manga too until I dicovered pies.

Never been a big fan of Akira, but wicked city, legend of the overfiend and all the old dominion tank polices were and Ninja Scrolls

A couple months ago I bought the french/jap manga that got me into it all when I was a nipper, who remembers Ulysses 31??????

I got bored after 10 minutes though and still haven't watched it through yet

Spiritied Away is awesome!

Saw it like 2 years ago, got sent it by my cousin in Osaka, fooking love it.

Never been a big fan of GITS or Akira, Ninja Scroll was pretty good.

But a good tip for anyone watching these films, DO NOT WATCH THE DUBBED VERSION, it wastes it so much, you really need to see the subbed version, it's just so much better, the really American voices they use just waste the films.

Some good series for you to check out as well:

Hellsing
X TV
Rurouni Kenshin
Witch Hunter Robin
Rah Xephon
Scryed

The top 3 there are THE best anime's I've ever seen.

www.animesuki.com very good BitTorrent source for anime.

Dubed versions do and I have the special edition Akira and they are actually talking English and not Japlish (Badly transleated Japanees into English)

I liked the Tank Police series

Legend of the Overfiend I didn't like much

Paddy Ulysses 31 man!!!! used to watch that series all the time, still got em on Beta-max somewhere
