FAO: small van drivers - which one?
I'm looking to buy two small vans for the company i.e: Belingo/Partner, and would just like to ask what you guys are using and what you think of them, i.e: comfort, handling etc.??
Thanks

I used to run a Renault Kangoo, was a crackin van and proved to be a good strong choice when a girl ran into the back of me at 70mph(I was stationery.. ),
the van was fooked but the passenger compartment was perfect and the doors still opened ok despite one qtr panel collapsing and the front being squashed were she pushed me under a pick-up truck.!!!!!!
Fairly good size inside as well...

I would like a french diesel as I think they are excellent. Had them before and never had any problems and they can do Jean-Luc Picard mileage too so will last a few years!
Thanks for the help though guys

Not keen on Vauxhall diesels - I had a Combo and hated it, although I know the newer models and Astra are supposed to be good - again, very reasonable money for a two year old one as well so worth a look

the peugeot partner is ok m8
i got one on a 51 plate done 160,000 in three years never had a problem with it and i drive it hard, just service it at the right times etc
i got the 1.9 diesel but ive been told the 2.0 is cheaper to run as it copes with the extra weight that you carry

I'm driving a Partner 2.0 hdi, I used to drive a Partner 1.9.
The 1.9 did 125000miles over 6 years, only had 3 sets of tyres, 1 full exhaust, 1 battery and servicing once a year.
They both ride speed bumps at 30.. smoothly, with quite a lot of tools and spares in.
The 2.0 hdi is a LOT quicker than the 1.9 and uses same fuel, about 35mpg.
The company I work for has run a lot of Peugeots for years, without trouble, until the hdi came along.
Most of the cars have had several software upgrades, several vans have had electronic faults.
I dont think you will get hdi for your money but the 1.9 is good.
Main dealer service is W..K, but then most makes are.

i use aa vito (i know its bigger) really good van, X reg wi 120 on clock and no problems,
my mate has a astra 1.7dti and its slowwwwwwwwwwwww
as a 2cv, really underpowered, use to have a old berlingo
(p reg) was reliable and good work horse, but i did not like the drive
and that too was underpowered

Thanks for the opinions peeps, much appreciated!!
I'm glad the Belingo/Partner are getting a good rep as this is my prefered choice, it's just I've never driven one. I think they are non-turbo if I remember correctly (not sure why?!) which is why weight might be a problem to some, but not a major issue to me.
I used to run a Xantia TD as a workhorse which was excellent, 100% reliable and was way past 220,000 miles when I sold it, hence my desire for another french diesel
Vito is a bit overkill for my requirements, plus very pricey for the equivalent year etc. so I'll have to leave them alone for the time being

I had a HDI Berlingo last year and have just been issued with my Kangoo... Stay clear of the Kangoo; handles terrible in the wet; accelerates slower than a wet dog on ice and so far mine has gone into the garage a total of 9 times to be repaired and the aircon is still stuck on full and the central locking still locks and unlocks all the doors bar the sliding door at the side... yes; the one with no key lock so I had to modify the bulkhead so I could reach round.
The Berlingo was a sound little van; pocky and plenty of room; but it a little loud on the motorways. Quite good on fuel though compared to the Kangoo... Oh yes... Kangoo's drink oil; whereas the Berlingo was a start and go van.
Couldn't big it up enough - Go for the Berlingo.
