If someone else has the log book to your car.....
.... what can they do??
Had an e-mail from the guy I got the XR2 off of a couple of week back, saying he had the log book and when can we arrange a meet up to do the transfer. (He only had the car himself a week before deciding he couldn't keep it, probably as it needed TLC and he has four after cars anyway...) I know the car isn't stolen as I personally knew the owner before him anyway and I know that was all done legit.
Anyway I sent him an e-mail saying when ever, you only live up the road so we can sort something no worries, when is good for you?
No reply.
Sent him another one a few days later, re-asking the question....
No reply.
Week later I'm starting to ring him, no answer or reply, but knowing him, thats what he is like any way.
Now today I ring him and got though. As soon as I finished the sentence, "when shall we sort out the log book" phone dies
Try calling again, straigh to voicemail. Must be a problem with his phone. So have my dinner and call him after.
Rings, then though to voice mail
Try again, phones off.
So WTF is this guy playing at?? Does he not want to sort out when we can do this log book thing. I mean what possible good can the log book do him... if he aint got the car, and ESPECIALLY, if the car is registered in his own name???????
So I'm trying to work out WTF this guy is up to....
Gonna write out a letter to the DVLA now requesting the log book, but I'm kinda worried.... whats his game....

go bang on the door with some polezie behind you. :-D I am sure he would have it ready before he even opened the door.
honestly dont know.
If that is just the records of oil changes and maintenance, then not much at all I would say. just sucks to loose it.

Dont have the new owners slip as he was waiting for the log book to come though for him when he got the car
Just downloaded a V5 filling that out now.
IF anyone needs proof of when I got the car and who from there is a whole thread on it on the FS forum.
But to hang up on me (maybe) then not answer his phone, it does have me slightly worried...

As long as he has the new book and gives it to you, no problem. Otherwise can of worms

Well its not like I can't prove I dont own the vehicle, the owner before is witness to the fact I bought the car and identify it if need be. Not only that the whole transaction was confirmed on a public internet forum ( http://forum.fordsport.org.uk/viewth...id=5038&page=1 )
So its not like I can't confirm it can I

Depends on who has the stronger case, hopefully in this case it's madmac if that's what it comes to

you'll probably find that theres a simple explination for it all but i cant really see him being able to do much really except kick up and fuss couse a bit of hassle and get nothing in return.
if he did try and get the car back i cant really see it holding up as u've had the car for months now and its not like its been reported stolen so thats the first thing the police will ask, why's it taken so long for him to report it.
and lets face it its not exactly like the cars brand new and is worth ŁŁŁŁ so its not exactly the sort of car that u would risk stealing and try keeping as ur own.
