RS1600i problems
Hi !
I got an RS1600i, but it runs pretty bad.
On idle it's running fine (CO and HC value are OK)
but when reving it, the HC value increases (unburnt fuel)
I've modified the airhose which goes between the meteringhead and the throttlevalve (it's slightly bigger diameter and a bit shorter... does this affect the working of the K-jetronic ?)
So it's overfuelling OR getting to little air.
anybody knows what I can do to adjust this ??? Or know what books I need to get to get it set up properly. ?
Thanks.
Martein

That's tthe weird thing about it...
arround teh 3 - 4 K there is a hick up in the revving... but after that it runs fine again.
CO value is set on 1.5%
ignition was set on 12 degree
So this makes me think it's got something to do with the meteringhed unit (wrong setup ?) or the airhose which I've changed... ?
Thanks.

Either way, have you cleaned out the throttle valve and opening to the inlet manifold? They are prone to getting very clogged up around this area and need a good clean with carb spray every so often.
Also, does the new airhose flex or is it very stiff? I ask because many still have the original (or replacement) 20 year old hose fitted, and most of them by now have dried and stiffened, this often causes them to crack and split between the ridges, you cant often see the cracks when its fitted as the ridges are so close together but its defo worth checking.
The throttle valve is cleaned and is standard from a RS1600i
The airhose is changed due to the fact the standard item doesn't fit in my car (mk1 Fiesta) but that hose is from Samco.
here is a pic :
It's got a piper induction kit, apart from that it's standard.

Thanks

Unfortunately I cant see your pics as im behind a firewall at work, but I can point you in the direction of some very knowledgable people on www.rsownersclub.co.uk go to the RS1600i section and there is bound to be able to help.

It IS a RS1600i engine. I just don't have the ignition fitted to it (due to the fact that I got a 4-sp. gearbox and there was no hole for the sensor to put in....) Therefor I used a XR3i dizzy

what are your hydro carbon figures?
I wouldn't worry about em to be honest.. the most important thing is it runs...
Try a different metering head.. if they fuck up u cant fix em.
If u have a flat spot its bound to be timing or ignition related
