Default JUST GOT PULLED OVER AGAIN & REG PLATES CONFISCATED

Got pulled by the same coppers that pulled me a couple of weeks ago

they were waiting for me this morning too

Copper pulled me over and asked why i havent changed em since the last time he pulled me so i replied i did to which his reply was "no you didnt cos we saw you yesterday but were on a blue call so couldnt stop to chat to you"

they fookin took my plates off the car and reported me for failing to display a proper reg mark. Gonna goto court for it too and apparantly its now upto DVLA to decide whether to put my car on a Q reg Anyone know if they can do this or not?

I feel like a criminal

They can definately take your plates to keep as evidence, otherwise you might have a mishap with them...

Not sure about the Q but it would seem likely.

Yes they can Q plate the car, but they wont if its the first time you have been to court.

Especially if you can plead that its because you are emotionally unstable as a result of your brother being much better looking and hence you were trying to compensate for it with a trendy number plate.

From Dvla website.

THE LAW

The law states that,

* You must not alter, rearrange or misrepresent the letters or numbers
* Characters must not be moved from one group to the other (e.g. A242 ABC must not be displayed as A242A BC).

Offences may result in any or all of the following:

* A fine of up to Ł1,000
* The registration mark may be WITHDRAWN

* The vehicle may FAIL the MOT test

Full details of the requirements are included in The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 20

Good news though at least you won't get any points.

Unfortunately not - they prey upon the gauranteed result. However if you were a proper criminal the UKs judicial system is that f.v.c.k.e.d. up that they would have probably of paid you for artistic presentation

Bad luck mate

Unfortunately its illegal to have your reg number spaced in any other way than to how it was intended.

This is actually something i agree with, R4N's arent actually that bad but what really annoys me are the people who not only illegally space the numbers but also create words/letters through the cunning use of screws!!

Ive seen some where I cant even work out what the actual reg number is!!, imagine if someone with one of these doctored plates hit your car in the carpark for example and you only got a glimpse of the reg as they drove off!!

* The vehicle may FAIL the MOT test

there's NO rules on the spec/size for number plates on the mot test just the Police force this something th do with being able to see it from so many feet etc iirc. regarding the rest YOU can lose the number plate(so that THEY dvla can make more money when they re sell it to sum one else regarding Q plate if they were to try put it on I'm SURE you can contest this by proving year of manufacter just like kit cars and you would get a year related plate If it was to go that far

DONT you just love this country you should have been a harden crimminal or child molester they would have wave you bye m8

Kind of agree with you, but on the other hand, the way some plates are made up, I reckon it would be easier to remember the reg. mark as it's obvious, not just a random selection of numbers and letters.

As you said, I reckon D 16V RS is more likely to be remembered than D16 VRS, but where people make things up with screws, etc... it's a different matter.

Personally I dont think spacing should cop too much grief, especially as shown above. Italics and screw cap placing should cop more as they are almost illegible. Like frog is saying, R4N's plate is easier to remember.

I remember a few years back the someone doing a survey on plates, something like watchdog. They checked a load of plates and most were illegal including some Police ones. They had just been produced incorrectly and not tampered with since being put on the car.

i think the size of lettering is 78mm and my plates were done to 68mm so they are not that bad and they are clearly visible.

I'd have been more worried about the 10 cans of stella and half an ounce of doobie you'd ingested before you hung it sideways past the coppers.

i agree in principle with the letter of the law, but it does seem to have been applied a bit harshly in your case, as though you have been victimised a little.

Automatic recognition systems for tax and speeding struggle to read a lot of badly spaced plates, hence the crackdown, but the daft thing is that yours is VERY easy to read still!

paddy

the funniest thing is my brother has his plate spaced totally wrong and even has the dreaded fake bolts in the plate to make it up to form his name and he has NEVER had any shit

mind you i have gotten away with it for 3 years now and the only reason they initially pulled me a few weeks back was cos I cut traffic by lane jumping at the lights

Yeah, but Big Brother's computerised fining machine won't work with Ran's plates, hence the fine.

Welcome to the UK. The only fucking arsehole of a counrty where you can only get fair treatment if your a murderer or child molester.

a 'friend' of mine had the number plate 8en....., bought off net plates saying ren..... (so it exactly spells name, and its an r instead of an 8), stuck a bit of black insulation tape along the bottom of r to look like an 8

a speed camera saw it as an 8

it looks sooooooooooooooooooooooooo flocking obvious!
