Default ENGINE IN AT LAST.....(With Pics and basic spec of engine)

After an early start this morning (10am), at last I've finished putting the new engine into the cossie. Finished about 9pm and now it's all ready to start, just waiting for Karl to get my modified inlet plenium and fuel rail back to me and she's ready to start.....Ohhhhh.

Been one hell of a day, and spent two hours of that trying to get the gearbox output shaft splines lined up with the clutch assembly. God is that hard to do, jugling around the gearbox, and engine, ....... ended up releasing the gearbox mounting to get the box at the same angle as the engine.. and in she popped... Oh I wish it had gone together as easy as that. My arms are totally shagged, my back feels like a dozen sumo wrestlers have been jumping on it, and my hands look like a bruised and battered boxers.

All worth it in the end I'm sure.

Ok Karl, it's down to you now, looking forward to that 420bhp you promised me.........

Basic Engine Spec.......

Mahle Modified Pistons (7.5:1cr with valve cut outs) Thanks to Steve Scott and the boys
Karl Norris fully modifed head
Karl Norris Cams (High Torque) ?????
Mountune WRC Head Gasket (Fu-king Expensive)
Ported Inlet Manifold
EEC4 Inlet Plenium
T38 Turbo (Universal Turbo's Version)
Grey Injectors
Verniers
Chargecooler

The rest is a "Karl".......Sorry, I meant to say a "Secret".

All the bells and whistles as far as ancillaries are concerned. + Quaife Diff, AP Brakes, Koni Suspension, nice wheels and tyres

Will be on the rollers once she's ran in and had her final set up from karl.

BHP/TORQUE... ???? Bearing in mind this engine was designed for mid range punch (Torque) over outright bhp.

SMIDSY: Time Date Place, and I'll be there. Need to get some miles on the engine to run it in, before Karl will set it all up for Max Power. Looking to get between 500 - 1000 on the clock as quick as possible

Vince's version of the T38 is good for 450bhp as proven by Steve Scott who built a similar spec engine and recorded 450bhp, with fantastic mid range punch. Remember this engine was designed for torque and mid range power, so expecting at least 420bhp with a similar torque figure.

My earlier effort put out 352bhp, and that was with standard head, cams and standard bottom end,.... So now with low comp, fully modified head, Karls Cams, and the T38 along with a ported inlet manifold, EEC4 Inlet Plenium and greys, I think 420bhp/420lbs torque is a very realistic figure to expect

I'll be honest, and admit that I don't know what boost Karl is going to settle for when he set's it up. But with the fully flowed head, low comp and mountune gasket I guess I'm looking at around 28psi (2bar).

What is so special about using the EEC4 Inlet Plenium ?

I use a 4x4 Inlet on my 2wd

COSSIE4I : Out of all the pleniums (2wd,4x4,EEC4) the EEC4 Plenium is capable of flowing more air........

Don't ask me why, I'm just going by advice I got from Karl, Mike Rainbird, and Harvey Gibbs.......EEC4 is the most capable of the three.

After the EEC4, then your next route is onto one of the Swedish style pleniums.

PETCH : Were talking about the Inlet Plenium, fitted to the very last of the late escort cossies. The fact that it flows better than the 2wd or 4x4 item.

EEC4 is just a name given as to where it originates. Basically an inlet plenium off the late escort cossie.

EECIV - small turbo EsCos management system - so Jim means said items from a late EsCos.

EDIT: that'll teach me to have multiple windows open and take my time replying

Yeah, i just wondered which car they came off, so small turbo escos then?

Seems strange ford making all these better bits for the later cars and they weren't as fast, restricted them kinda

Looks nice anyway

Next time your trying to put the engine in and onto the box turn the crank a little with a socket on the front pulley and it shouldn't be difficult
